O my Beloved! Praise be to God, Who hath enriched the Leaf—light upon light—in the Land of Baha, through the twofold mystery of Sinai; and hath caused it to utter the verses of attraction within the secret of the twinfold revelation. He hath made it to warble with the hidden mystery in the land of utterance, and hath caused it to shine forth with the verses of divers adornments in the realm of manifestation. He hath made it gentle amidst the leaves and the twin trees, proclaiming: “The Remembrance is for the Lord; yet the people know not.”

Praise be to God, Who hath revealed the mystery of the hidden One upon the throne of the clouded heavens; Who hath brought it forth through the praising verses in the secret of the twin lines; Who hath adorned it with the inmost secret upon the seat of the twin thrones, that it might chant amid the white leaves: “The Remembrance is the Truth; yet the people understand not.”

And praise be to God, the Originator of praise—His praise! And praise be to God, the Revealer of praise—His praise! And praise be to God, the Discloser of praise—His praise! And praise be to God, the Effulgent of praise—His praise! And praise be to God, the Embroiderer of praise—His praise! And praise be to God, the Vanquisher of praise—His praise! And praise be to God, the Thunderer of praise—His praise! A praise such as beseemeth Him, and none beside Him—for there is none other God but He; the Lord, the Self-Sufficient, the Well-Beloved. He is the inmost Mystery hid within the Leaf of Identity—Ancient. God testifieth that there is none other God but He, the Most High, the Most Great.

He it is Who called from within the Tree, by the leave of the secret in the twin orbs:

“Verily I am the Lord in the twofold revelation; I am the Utterance upon the Mount of the twin decrees; I am the Manifest upon the Throne of the clouded heights; I am the Hidden in the secret of utterance; I am God, the Speaking One, in the realms of manifestation.”

“I am the First, before the first; and I am the Last, after the last. I am the Manifest, before the manifest; and I am the Hidden, after the hidden. I am the Mystery in the inmost mysteries; I am the attraction in the twin countenances; I am the appearing in the dawns; I am the concealment in the effacements. I am He that sendeth down the verses in the outpourings; I am the Lord established upon the couch of the seals; I am the Well-Beloved speaking in the land of beginnings; I am the Desired One voicing the secret of concealments. I am the All in the all, in the all; I am the warbler in the twin trees; I am the singer in the vessels; I am the one made manifest in the twin branches; I am the Witness of all in the land of the Divinity.”

“I am the All-Merciful, seated upon the Throne; I am the Identity among them that abide; I am the Compeller in the twinfold subduings; I am the All-Conquering in the twinfold seizings; I am the Subduer in the twin compulsions; I am the Creator in the twin utterances; I am the Veiler in the twin veils. I am He Who sendeth down with gentle outpourings; I am the Enricher in the twin leaves; I am the Chanter in the twin bees; I am the Speaker in the twin flies. I am the Truth—there is none other God but He: to Him we ever prostrate ourselves. He is the Lord—there is none other God but He, the Truth: to Him we bear witness. He is the Well-Beloved—there is none other God but He, the Lord: to Him we are wholly submissive.”

Say: O people of flame, O people of delusion! Wherefore do ye slay us, and then deny us? Wherefore do ye repudiate us? Wherefore do ye afflict us? Wherefore do ye forge calumnies against us? Have we sons of the Messenger? Have we children of the Pure One? Have we the mystery of descent? Have we the hidden secret within minds? Wherefore do ye not behold? Wherefore do ye not prostrate yourselves? Wherefore do ye not take the path of guidance? Wherefore do ye not speak? Wherefore do ye not testify? Wherefore do ye not understand?

Is it that ye know nothing and comprehend nothing? Hath the Resurrection come? Hath the sun been folded up? Hath the heaven been rent asunder? Hath the Throne been shaken? Hath the Seat been raised aloft? Hath the Pen written? Have the verses been inscribed? Hath the Book borne witness? Hath the cloud descended? Have the waters flowed? Hath the earth been spread out? Have the mountains been crushed? Have the seas been poured forth? Hath the air fallen still? Have the spheres been rolled together? Have the dead been gathered unto the muster? Have the clouds been changed into light? Have the garments of oneness appeared? Have the signs been fulfilled? Hath the moon been cleft? Hath the Hour been decreed? Hath the religion passed away? Hath the world been adorned? Have the people begun to sing? Hath the Trumpet been blown? Have the countenances been unveiled? Have the mysteries been disclosed? Have the verses descended? Hath being been brought into being? Have essences hearkened? Have the dwellers in divinity been struck senseless? Have the denizens of the dominion perished? Have the inhabitants of the kingdom and the realm of sovereignty been bowed down? Hath all in all been made partner? Hath all in all been made single? Hath all in all denied?

Have hearts been straitened? Have souls been broken? Have eyes been dimmed? Have ears been stopped? Have lips been moved? Hath love surged in the deep? Have the countenances been drawn? Have eyes overflowed? Have tears been made to run? Have the mountains flashed with splendour? Have all been thunderstruck? Have feet been made to falter? Hath the secret been manifested? Hath the Resurrection arisen? Hath the Lord appeared? Hath God spoken? Hath the Tree been uplifted? Have faces bowed down? Have voices been hushed? Have beings grown pale? Have countenances reddened? Have the white ones blackened? Have leaves put forth? Have fruits stirred? Have trees been summoned? Have letters been joined? Hath the dove sung? Hath the Ha arisen?

Hath the Ha resounded? Hath the verse appeared? Hath the Lord descended? Have the angels been arrayed? Have the prophets prostrated? Hath all been humbled? Hath all been breathless? Hath the beginning been sealed? Hath the seal begun? Have the verses been shed abroad? Have sermons awakened? Have illusions been effaced? Hath beauty given its sign? Hath felicity rung out? Hath the morn burst its shell? Hath the dawn arisen? Hath the Ha vanished? Hath the Waw appeared? Hath the sun risen from the West? Have the stars been gathered? Have the constellations shone? Have the angels become renowned? Hath the Spirit breathed? Hath the command descended? Hath the Lord judged? Have servants prostrated? Have essences grown bold? Hath camphor gleamed?

Have the countenances shone? Have the countenances been effaced? Hath simplicity babbled? Do we possess the mystery of manifestation? Do we possess the light of manifestation? What is there among affairs that hath not been accomplished? Why, then, do ye slay us? Why do ye deny us?

Yet ye have no refuge from the seized wrath of the Well-Beloved, He Who abideth for Him are they that are in the heavens and they that are on the earth. Verily we are God’s, and unto Him we return, and unto Him we have been sincere. God testifieth that there is none other God but He, and that unto Him shall all return. He is the Incomparable, the Gentle. He hath inspired the fathers, whomsoever He willeth of His servants. Verily He is the All-Encompassing, the Omnipotent, the Self-Subsisting. Thus is praise unto God, the Beloved of them that know.
