BB00311: Ziyarat for the fifth to be martyred among the Letters of the Living

In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy

Glorified art Thou, O my God, my Lord, my Beloved and my Heart’s Desire! How can I begin to make mention of Thee and sing Thy praise, or ascend to the horizon of Thy glory and majesty, and bear witness before Thee to that whereunto Thou hast testified concerning Thine own Self, of the loftiness of Thy sanctity and the splendor of Thy light? Thou art He Who hast existed before all things, and Thou art He Who shall endure after the passing of all things. Verily Thou art He Who existeth with all things through Thine own Being, creating whatsoever Thou willest.

Thou hast ever been known through other than Thyself and wilt ever be described through none but Thee. I testify, and all that Thou hast created and wilt create testify, that Thou art God, there is no God but Thee, alone, with no partner. Thine is the creation and the command. Thou givest life and causest death, then causest death and givest life, and verily Thou art the Ever-Living Who dieth not. Within Thy grasp is the kingdom of all things. Thou createst what Thou willest, how Thou willest, by what means Thou willest, when Thou willest, and verily Thou art powerful over all things. Thou originatest what Thou desirest, how Thou desirest, by what means Thou desirest, when Thou desirest. Verily, Thou art the Swift, the Omnipotent, the Powerful.

Glory hath ever belonged to those who glorify, sanctify, magnify and extol Thee, and abasement to those who know Thee not and stand not for Thy rights. Thou didst not create the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them save in truth, that they who dwell in the kingdom of Thy earth and heaven might worship Thee, and that whatsoever existeth in the kingdom of Thy creation and majesty might prostrate before Thee.

Thou hast ever been alone in the heights of oneness, sanctified in the exaltation of Thy unity, inaccessible in Thine own sovereignty, and elevated in the sublimity of Thy holy dominion. How exalted is Thy remembrance, O my God, in the depths of names and attributes, and how hallowed is Thy praise and glorification, O my Beloved, in the kingdom of beginning and end! Thou hast ever been one God, single, individual, ever-living, self-subsisting. Thou hast taken neither consort nor son, and Thou hast had no partner in dominion nor any helper in command. Thou hast ordained all things and ordained them in perfect order.

The sweet-scented breezes of Thy holy grace have ever descended upon the people of Thy realm, and the wondrous tokens of Thy creative handiwork have ever shone forth to those who dwell in the kingdom of Thy earth and heaven. I have witnessed, O my God, what none can witness in the path of Thy love, and this, O my God, is naught but from the loftiness of Thy power and the exaltation of Thy sovereignty, wherein that Most Great Branch of the Tree of Thy oneness was drawn, of His own will, unto Thee, and His mystery ascended unto Thy presence. Yea, by Thy might, He attained unto Thy meeting, and was exalted through the exaltation of Thy names, and was illumined by the revelation of Thy signs, and was made resplendent by the radiance of Thy similitudes.

This is Thy way for those who seek to know Thee, for Thou hast chosen for Him the most exalted chambers of Thy paradise and the most glorious pavilion at the summit of Thy creation. For what is with Thee, O my God, is better than what is in the hereafter and the former life, and what Thou bestowest upon the people of Thy love is that which none can attain save those for whom Thou hast ordained the highest stations in the hereafter and the former life.

Therefore, O God, send down all the good whereof Thou hast testified, and bear witness to that in every condition through the loftiness of Thy grace and the sublimity of Thy glory. Verily, Thou art the Munificent, the Generous. Then turn unto the Direction whereunto the near ones turn, and the Countenance before which the worlds bow down, and say: Verily, the Most Glorious Glory be upon him who glorifieth Glory through Glory, and the Most Exalted Exaltation be upon him who exalteth Exaltation through Exaltation, and indeed the Most Pleasing Good-Pleasure be upon him who raiseth Good-Pleasure through Good-Pleasure.

O Lord, how can I begin to make mention of Thy praise, or desire to speak of any of the wondrous manifestations of the glorious signs of Thy sacred majesty? For verily God hath ever remembered Thee, praised Thee, and drawn nigh unto Thee, revealing Himself to Thee, through Thee, and unto Thee. This hath no equal in all the kingdoms of earth and heaven, nor can any mention in the realm of names and attributes compare with it. Therefore will I beseech God on that Day when all shall be brought before Him, that He may grant me to attain unto Thy presence. God will surely unite me with Thee in the most exalted chambers of Paradise, for He hath ever been a Supreme Arbiter. Even thus doth God reward through Thee those who have martyred themselves in the path of His glory, for He hath ever been the All-Bountiful, the All-Powerful. Verily, we are God’s and unto Him shall we return. There is no power nor strength save in God, the Exalted, the Great.
