In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Glorified art Thou, O my God! How can I make mention of Thee through my remembrance of Thee, or praise Thee through my glorification of Thee? The loftiest heights to which Thy sincere servants can ascend, and the most exalted station which those who have recognized Thy oneness can attain, are but creations of Thy command, brought into being by Thy will, and realized through Thy bestowals.
Glorified art Thou, O my God, above every remembrance! I desire to make mention of Thee, for Thou hast ever existed before all things, and there was naught beside Thee, and Thou wilt continue to exist as Thou hast ever been, with none else beside Thee or near Thee. Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou hast ever been the One God, the Self-Subsisting, the Eternal, the Single, the Self-Sufficient. Thou hast taken neither consort nor partner, nor hath anything in Thy realm been joined with Thy Being, for Thou wert living when there was no life, and Thou wilt live after all life, and Thou art living when there is no life except Thine own. Thou createst what Thou willest without generation, and bringest into being what Thou desirest without invention. Thou hast ever been manifest in the kingdom of Thy earth and Thy heaven, and dominant over all the manifestations of Thy signs.
Should I say “Thou art Thou,” I bear witness that Thy Being cannot be known through aught else, nor found save through Itself, nor mentioned except through Itself, nor can Its oneness be proven through Its creation. And should I say “Verily Thou art,” the matter returneth to what is concealed in the station of transcendence.
Glorified art Thou, O my God, with a glorification wherewith none of Thy creation hath ever glorified Thee, nor will any of Thy servants ever glorify Thee. Rather, it is the glorification wherewith Thou hast glorified Thy Being, magnified Thy Reality, exalted Thy Self, sanctified Thy Identity, and extolled Thy Grandeur—a glorification purified from the mention of all similitudes and things, and sanctified from the reference to all names and attributes. Through this glorification have been illumined the Throne by the light of Thy countenance, and the Seat by the splendor of Thy face, and the highest heavens by the manifestation of Thy mercy, and Paradise and all that Thou hast created therein of the wonders of Thy bounty, and the fire and what Thou hast created therein of the revelations of Thy might, that Thou mightest purify its people and bring them to the station Thou hast ordained for them, and the earth and all that are thereon of the wonders of Thy mercy, that Thou mightest manifest them and all who dwell thereon until there remaineth nothing in Thy knowledge save what prostrateth itself before Thee alone, Who hast no partner, assured of Thy oneness, believing in the sovereignty of Thy grandeur, glorifying Thy Being, content with what Thou hast ordained of the manifestations of Thy Will—a glorification whereby the people of unity are raised to the uttermost horizon of detachment, and the people of truth are drawn to the fountainhead of rapture in the highest heaven of uniqueness, a glorification wherewith none hath ever glorified Thee before, nor will any glorify Thee hereafter, a glorification which is a sign of the sovereignty of Thy oneness, and the countenance of the King of Thy singleness, and the dawning-place of the sun of Thy unity, which pointeth unto Thee.
There is no God but Thee, the Creator of all things and their Originator, the Fashioner of all things and their Former, the Beginner of all things and their Counter, the Extender of all things and their Provider—a glorification wherewith Thou art well-pleased with all things, and dost forgive all things, and dost cause all things to return to the Point from which they emerged, pure, unsullied, and sanctified.
I testify, O my God, and all the dwellers of Thy heavens and the inhabitants of Thy earth and whatsoever Thou hast created or wilt create, and all that Thy knowledge hath encompassed, that if Thou shouldst punish me in return for my praise of Thee with all the power at Thy command in creation, it would be but little compared to what I truly deserve before the court of Thy compelling sovereignty and the kingdom of Thy almighty power. Yet Thou hast ordained otherwise, and Thy decree standeth higher than this, for Thou hast assured those who praise Thee and hast written upon Thyself for those who recognize Thy unity—an eternal Paradise wherein they shall abide through Thy perpetuity and be exalted through the wondrous lights of Thy revelation, which have no end, no termination, no exhaustion and no decline, for it hath been established through the manifestation of Thy generosity and confirmed through the emergence of Thy grace and mercy.
Glorified art Thou, O my God! Make all names manifestations of Thy most great, most mighty, most exalted, most near, and most gracious Names. For verily these letters have become burdensome to me—make them, O my God, a single Alif, indicating naught but Thy sole dominion. There is no God but Thee.
Glorified art Thou, O my God! I am certain that except for Thy mercy, which was created never to change, and before which was created that which never alters, each hath its appointed time, book and portion from Thee, as Thou hast ordained in the Mother Book.
Praise be to Thee for all that Thou hast originated, created, invented, brought into being, and wilt create—praise that equalleth Thy glorification and matcheth the creation of all things as Thou hast created them for Thy unity. Praise that hath no equal in the kingdom of Thy heaven and earth, nor any likeness among all the manifestations of Thy names and attributes. Praise whereby the sincere ones ascend to the highest pinnacle of detachment. Praise whereby the pure in heart soar to the uttermost summit of inaccessibility. Praise which Thou alone deserveth, none besides Thee. Praise whose true measure Thou alone knoweth, none among Thy creation. Praise whereby the wondrous evidences of Thy mercy remain unchanged in every condition, and the pillars of all things are filled with the revelation of Thy countenance, such that none is seen except Thee—manifest above all things, hidden within all things, living before all things, and enduring after all things.
Praise which Thou hast praised through Thine own Being and established with Thee through the sublimity of Thy sovereign oneness. Praise that filleth the reality of all things with Thy unity and causeth them to speak in remembrance of Thy glorification, and the conditions of all things through the revelations of Thy names and attributes, all that Thy knowledge hath encompassed. Praise unequalled by any praise before and unmatched by any praise hereafter, exalted through Thy most great grandeur and supreme majesty, steadfast before the throne of Thy singleness, unchanged by aught, as Thou hast preserved it through the sovereignty of Thy mercy.
Glorified art Thou, O my God, and exalted with true glorification! Glorified art Thou, O my God, and sanctified with true praise! Glorified art Thou, O my God, and exalted with true transcendence! Glorified art Thou, O my God, and hallowed with true glorification! Glorified art Thou, O my God, before that and after that, with that and above that! Blessed is he who hath praised Thee with Thine own self’s praise of Thy self, and glorified Thee with Thine own essence’s glorification of Thy essence, and attained unto Thee through that whereby Thou hast unified Thine own being. Glory be unto Thee, there is no God but Thee! I ask forgiveness of Thee for these words that have praised Thee and I turn repentant unto Thee. All praise with which I have praised Thee, or which I now know or shall ever know, all exaltation which I have sought or shall ever seek, all glory which I have claimed or shall ever claim—none of these befit the sovereignty of Thy singleness, and all are rendered null before the dominion of Thy Self-Subsistence.
Glorified art Thou, O my God, above all this and before it and after it. I desired not to praise Thee except with that wherewith Thou hast praised Thyself, nor did I seek to glorify Thee except with that wherewith Thou hast glorified Thine Essence. For that which — from the realities of contingent things and appears from the essences of created beings is that which demonstrates that all sovereignty revolves around Thy Being, and all that was created through origination speaks of what God hath placed within the inner realities of His glorious manifestations.
Glorified art Thou, O my God, with the true glorification that transcends all praise encompassed by Thy knowledge, and with the true praise witnessed by Thy power. I do confess unto Thee through the supreme declarations and ultimate — that I have not truly glorified Thee and can never glorify Thee, I have not truly praised Thee and can never exalt Thee. Rather, in this state of utter helplessness and poverty, I have glorified Thee while certain that it befitteth not the court of Thy glory and confessing that it is unworthy of the sovereignty of Thy justice.
Accept Thou, O my God, this nothingness which abideth through Thy perpetuity and standeth firm before Thy throne through the manifestation of meeting with Thee.
Glorified art Thou, O my God—this is the extent of my expression in the depths of my powerlessness to praise Thee, and this is the ultimate ascent in my station of utterance when I praise Thy Self in the heights of Thy glorification. Glorified art Thou, O my God, above all this, and I seek Thy forgiveness before this, and I shall surely turn unto Thee after this. Grant me, O my God, the reward of that wherewith Thou hast praised Thyself, not that wherewith I have praised Thee or could praise Thee or anyone besides Thee could praise Thee, and that which Thou hast ordained in glorifying Thine Essence after I have praised Thee though I cannot truly glorify Thee nor can anyone besides Thee glorify Thee.
Glorified art Thou, O my God, by Thy might, and glorified art Thou, O my God, by Thy greatness, and glorified art Thou, O my God, by the sovereignty of Thy singleness, and glorified art Thou, O my God, by that wherewith Thou hast described Thyself through Thine analogies and the manifestation of the signs of Thy Lordship. Verily Thou art sanctified above all description and praise, and exalted above all mention and glory. If this be the extent of my ascent to the summit of detachment for the manifestation of Thy praise, and the ultimate height in the source of abstraction for the manifestation of glorifying Thee, then how can I not soar on these two wings for the manifestation of Thy oneness?
Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee; glorified art Thou, verily I am of those who affirm Thy unity. Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee; glorified art Thou, verily I am of those who proclaim Thy praise. Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee; glorified art Thou, verily I am of those who glorify Thee. Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee; glorified art Thou, verily I am of those who are detached. Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee; glorified art Thou, verily I am of those who are thankful. Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee; glorified art Thou, verily I am of those who worship Thee. Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee; glorified art Thou, verily I am of those who seek forgiveness. Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee; glorified art Thou, verily I am of those who repent.
Glorified art Thou, O my God, do with me as befitteth Thee through Thy grace, mercy, generosity, munificence and bestowals. I ask forgiveness of Thee by Thy names and attributes. Deal not with me according to my deserts, for verily Thou art the God of virtue and the Lord of forgiveness. Verily I seek Thy pardon and repent before Thee of all that was ascribed to me instead of that which was worthy of Thee, for Thou art the Most Merciful of the merciful. Glorified be Thy Lord, the Lord of majesty, above that which they attribute, and peace be upon the Messengers, and praise be to God, the Lord of all the worlds.
