The prayer of Hasan ibn ʿAli, peace be upon them

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou art the God of all gods in the kingdoms of earth and heaven, and Thou art the Lord of all lords in the realms of names and attributes.

Thou hast ever existed before all things, and Thou wilt forever remain before all things. Thou createst what Thou willest through Thy creation and Thou bringest into being what Thou desirest through Thy origination. Thou hast no equal, no likeness, no similitude, no peer and no partner. Thou createst what Thou willest through Thy creation and Thou originatest what Thou desirest through Thy innovation.

The gates of Thy holy might have ever been opened to them that love Thee, and the wondrous signs of Thy Lordship have ever been manifest to them that are devoted to Thee. Thou art the Beloved Who hath ever been and will ever be, Who cannot be known except through Thyself. Thou art the Intended One Who hath ever been and will ever be, Who cannot be described save by Thyself. Thou art indeed the Worshipped One before Whom all else boweth down and unto Whom all returneth.

Thou hast been exalted in Thy quintessence above all created things, and sanctified in Thy pure essence above all existing things, and elevated in Thy reality above all who dwell in the kingdoms of earth and heaven, and glorified in Thy identity above all who exist in the realms of beginning and ending. Glory be unto Thee! Glory be unto Thee! Thou art the Exalted One Who cannot be known through exaltation, and Thou art the Most High Who cannot be described through transcendence.

I beseech Thee at this moment to send down Thy mercy and the blessings of Thy sovereign oneness upon Hasan ibn ʿAli, Thy proof and the son of Thy proof, Thy friend and the son of Thy friends, Thy chosen one and the son of Thy chosen ones, whom Thou hast made the manifestation of Thy unity and the door of Thy oneness and the proof from Thee unto all Thy creation. Be Thou pleased, O my God, with his soul, through the Dawning-Place of the appearance of the Sun of Thy unity, and with his self, through Thy beloved one whom Thou hast made the best of Thy Prophets and the choicest of Thy chosen ones, and with his spirit, through his forebears the Imams of the Chosen One who bore witness to the truth and acted accordingly, and with himself and with him whom Thou didst make Thy proof after him, for none but Thee is able to do this.

Send down therefore upon him, O my God, from Thy glory and exaltation, Thy favors and bounties, Thy grace and beneficence, Thy signs and manifestations, Thy Word and revelations, Thy grandeur and elevation, that which will please the essence of his soul, the quintessence of his being, the pure substance of his reality, and the abstraction of his identity. Verily, Thou hast power over this and none besides Thee.

Glory be unto Thee! There is no God but Thee. Thou art, in truth, the Lord of all worlds.
