BB00241: Epistle to Haji Mirza Aqasi 1
In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Read thou the Book of the Remembrance of the name of thy Lord, from the presence of a manifest and righteous Leader. Verily it is a Book that hath been sent down through the wisdom of thy Lord, from the presence of One Who is All-Wise. Follow thou the decree that We now reveal unto thee from the Book of thy Lord, for this is an unassailable command. God, thy Lord, knoweth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on earth. There is no God but Him, the All-Powerful, the Mighty. Be thou grateful unto God, thy Lord, then prostrate thyself before His decree, for this indeed is the supreme triumph.
Know thou that the Remnant of God, the Proof of thy Lord, knoweth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on earth, and He, by the leave of thy Lord, hath power over all things as He willeth. We did aforetime send down a Book unto mankind that they might know the decree of their Lord in wondrous words, and that they might walk upon a straight path. Yet some among the people denied Our signs because of what Satan had cast into their souls, and these are indeed the wrongdoers in the Book of God. Those who followed the signs of God with truth yet mocked the signs of thy Lord, these are the idolaters.
O ye two kings [Haji Mirza Aqasi]! Follow the decree of your Lord, then present yourselves before God, then read the Book of Remembrance with justice, that ye may be numbered among the triumphant. We have indeed sent down the verses as a Book unto the king that thou mightest recite the Book of Command with truth, and be among those who in the Faith of God are well-assured. When the Book is sent down unto thee, deliver it forthwith by the leave of thy Lord, then read it before His throne, then interpret the words of thy Lord with justice in an eloquent foreign tongue, and say: Fear God, and be not afraid of thy Lord’s decree, for this is a manifest and righteous decree.
Say: The kingdom of this world and the next in the grasp of Truth is but as a letter in a written book. Verily, the Proof of thy Lord is independent of all who are in the heavens and all who are on earth, and all in the decree of the Book are submissive unto Him. Know thou that if thou desirest the kingdom of this world, We shall decree it unto thee with justice, and thou shalt then be established in sovereignty. But if thou desirest the abode of the hereafter, then follow My decree, for God’s Command is truth, and all shall be raised unto God on the Day of Resurrection.
Fear God, O thou trustworthy one, and be not afraid of anyone in the path of thy Lord. Strive with Our signs in justice, for the life of this world is vain, and the abode of the hereafter is better in the Book of thy Lord than that which people do. I counsel thee, O human being, see not the kingdom in thy hands as enduring, for every soul must taste of death as an obligation, and all shall return unto God. There is no God but Him. He shall judge between the people with justice on the Day of Resurrection, and not an atom’s weight of injustice shall be done that Day. God is the All-Powerful, the Mighty.
Bear thou witness with justice that if the king should aid the Cause with truth, the kingdom of this world and the next shall be established for him, and he shall be numbered among the helpers in the Book. All kings and their sons have been distinguished from him by thy Lord’s decree, rank after rank, like an extended line, and His decree shall be made manifest in the Book in such wise that none among the kings shall be mentioned, and all shall come unto Him in submission.
We behold from the treasuries of thy Lord that which no knowledge can encompass, and this indeed is the kingdom in this world, and verily for him in the hereafter are gardens of bounty from Our presence, the like of which no kingdom can equal, and this indeed is the supreme triumph. Follow thou the decree of the Remnant of God with justice, for today there is no escape for anyone except through faith in the signs of God.
We made thee to be among those who prostrate themselves, and verily We made thee among those possessed of knowledge aforetime and among those endowed with sovereignty thereafter, against the Day when the name of thy Lord would be mentioned—a mighty Day indeed. Aid thou the Cause of God with justice and recite the Book of thy Lord with fear, for verily God, thy Lord, is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. Know thou that a single verse of what We have revealed unto thee sufficeth as proof for all who dwell on earth, and God is the All-Witnessing, the All-Knowing.
Should men and jinn combine to produce the like of this Book, and should the jinn assist them in their weakness, they would never be able, nor would they have the power, even were they to be helpers one of another. Thus mayest thou know that there existeth in the Book no greater proof than this. Nay, by the Qur’an, this is assuredly one of the greatest! Were God to reveal but a single verse of the Qur’an, the decree of God would not be altered after He hath revealed numerous verses, and God is the All-Sufficient, the All-Praised. If We wished, We would reveal in every letter of the Qur’an the like of what We have revealed therein, and God, thy Lord, is verily the All-Powerful, the Almighty. Sufficient is thine own self today as witness to His decree in this Book. We have indeed revealed a Book unto the divines that they might be mindful of the signs of God and be among those endowed with certitude.
Read thou the Book of thy Lord from Our presence unto them and strive among them with wisdom and goodly verses that thou mayest be numbered among the helpers. It is written: Act thou in every matter as though thou wert in the presence of God and take not from anyone so much as a mustard seed without the decree of thy Lord in the Qur’an, for verily God, thy Lord, will recompense on the Day of Resurrection according to what his hands have wrought in the path of God. There is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Wise.
We have indeed revealed a Book unto the kings. Read thou the decree of what hath been revealed therein, then send it unto them with the decree inscribed in golden ink from the decree of the Book of the King that is nigh. By Him Who hath caused the Spirit to descend upon My heart, verily the Cause is true, even as the people speak concerning the decree of thy Lord. Follow thou My decree, then be patient in the Cause of God. Erelong thou shalt behold the kings before Us and those who are on earth within Our treasuries, and God is the Powerful, the Praised. Verily the Cause of God is greater than what the people do. Send thou the decree of the reply through those in thy kingdom who are nigh, then strengthen the messengers of the Mention of God, for verily thy Lord is the Self-Sufficient, the Mighty. Glory be unto God, the Lord of the Throne, above what they describe. Praise be unto God, the Lord of the worlds.
