The prayer of ʿAli ibn Musa, peace be upon him
Glory be to Thee, O my God! Thou art the Originator of the heavens and earth and whatsoever lieth between them. Thou hast brought into being through Thy creative power all that Thou hast created, and through Thy generative act hast originated all that Thou hast originated. Thou dost ever create what Thou willest as Thou willest, and wilt forever fashion what Thou desirest as Thou desirest.
Glory be to Thee and exalted art Thou! Glory be to Thee and holy art Thou! Glory be to Thee and sanctified art Thou! Glory be to Thee and magnificent art Thou! Glory be to Thee and majestic art Thou! Glory be to Thee and mighty art Thou! Glory be to Thee and sovereign art Thou! Glory be to Thee and supreme art Thou! Glory be to Thee and all-commanding art Thou! None knoweth how Thou art save Thyself alone.
I beseech Thee, O my God, at this moment, by the radiant lights of Thy countenance and the dawning-places of the Sun of Thy oneness, that Thou send Thy blessings upon Thy Proof, son of Thy Proof, Ali ibn Musa, Thy chosen one among Thy loved ones and Thy pure one among Thy near ones, whom Thou hast made the gate of knowledge of Thee and the path of approach unto the sacred carpet of Thy exaltation.
I beseech Thee, O my God, at this moment to send down upon him from Thy glory its most glorious, from Thy majesty its most majestic, from Thy beauty its most beauteous, from Thy grandeur its most grand, from Thy light its most luminous, from Thy mercy its most expansive, from Thy words their most perfect, from Thy perfection its most complete, from Thy names their most great, from Thy might its most mighty, from Thy will its most decisive, from Thy purpose its swiftest, from Thy power its most powerful, from Thy decree its most just, from Thy creative power its most impregnable, from Thy majesty that which is most dignified through Thy decisive will, from Thy Book that which was sent down through Thy creative power, from Thy knowledge its most penetrating, from Thy power its most far-reaching, from Thy word its most pleasing, from Thy questions their most beloved, from Thy nobility through Thee its most noble, from Thy sovereignty its most enduring, from Thy dominion its most illustrious, from Thy loftiness its most elevated, from Thy favors its most ancient, from Thy signs their most wondrous, from Thy manifestations their most manifest.
And that Thou bless him as Thou hast blessed any of the successors of Thy Prophets, and that his body be pleased with Thee, and his soul with Thy Prophet, and his spirit with his forebears and himself, then the Imams from his progeny, and his heart with the gates of Thy presence and the shirts of the sun of Thy divinity, and that Thou cause his eyes to be gladdened that there be not in his knowledge save what Thou lovest and art pleased with, and above pleasure unto what Thou hast encompassed in the summit of glory even unto the matter reaching the lowest atom, for none is able to do this besides Thee and none hath power over that save Thee, and verily Thou art the Lord of all the worlds.
