In His Name, the All-Exalted, the Most Great.
Follow thou the decree of God in this very hour; be not afraid, and dwell within the House of security, for verily We have ever been your Guardians. Be patient, and yield not to disquiet, for indeed We have ever been Witnesses over you. God knoweth that I love servants such as you—endued with sound knowledge and right guidance. And they who follow Me—no evil shall touch them in the life of this world; and in the life to come, they shall be the truly triumphant.
As for those who observe the ordinances of thy Lord set forth in that Book—their likeness is as My very self; I cannot bear to behold them in grief or in distress. God shall ward from them the mischief of all traitors, if only they fear God. Raise not a sedition, and if ye perceive danger to your lives, conceal yourselves from them; and put your whole trust in God, O ye who are steadfast, one and all.
Say: Now hath the [permission] come from Our presence; therefore abide in the chambers of safety, yet trust not the plots of the devils—of those who believed and then disbelieved. Hold fast to the cord of God, O ye who believe, all together. And whatsoever thy hands have wrought is, in the Book of God, better than the conquests opened aforetime by the hands of the Muslims at [Badr] and a¸¤unayn. May God destroy those who wrong the weak among the people!
O God, unto Thee I complain of what hath befallen Islam, aforetime and hereafter. “Our Lord! Pour out patience upon us, and grant us victory over the company of the idolaters.”
I counsel you, O concourse, that ye utter not a word that would stir up strife among the people, and that ye set apart from yourselves all who forge lies—one and all. Verily, the Balance of Truth is in Thy hands: raise not a sedition in that land. And if any one of you know that the people desire to wrong him in aught, it is incumbent upon him either to emigrate by God’s leave, or to hide himself from all men, one and all.
