BB00139: Du’a’ ’ala ’Adadi Ismi’l-Uluhiyya
In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy
All praise be to God, besides Whom there is none other God, the Most Great, the Most Great. And verily all glory be from God upon the First One and upon him who resembleth that One, wherein naught is seen save God, the One, the Pre-existent.
This, then, is a prayer corresponding to the number of the Name of Divinity. Call upon Him in every condition, for through it thou shalt surely attain unto thy Creator in the first life, and thereby shall thy heart be made steadfast in the love of thy Lord, the Most Exalted.
In the Name of God, the Most Powerful, the Most Near! O God, O my Lord! O God, O my Self-Subsisting One! O God, O my Single One! O God, O my Unique One! O God, O my Sovereign! O God, O my Beloved! O God, O my All-Glorious! O God, O my Self-Subsisting! O God, O my Most Holy! O God, O my Described One! O God, O my Manifest One! O God, O my Subduer! O God, O my Glorious One! O God, O my All-Seeing! O God, O my Creator! O God, O my One! O God, O my Single! O God, O my Peerless! O God, O my Eternal! O God, O my Most Glorious! O God, O my Inaccessible!
O God, O my Wondrous! O God, O my Exalted! O God, O my All-Hearing! O God, O my Fashioner! O God, O my Sovereign! O God, O my Beneficent! O God, O my Judge! O God, O my Proof! O God, O my All-Merciful! O God, O my All-Wise! O God, O my Forbearing! O God, O my Most Great! O God, O my Bountiful! O God, O my Merciful! O God, O my Creator! O God, O my Provider! O God, O my Cleaver! O God, O my Verifier! O God, O my Truthful! O God, O my Fashioner! O God, O my Everlasting! O God, O my Effacer! O God, O my Self-Sufficient! O God, O my Transcendent!
O God, O my Creator! O God, O my Almighty! O God, O my Manifester! O God, O my Illuminator! O God, O my All-Forgiving! O God, O my Loving! O God, O my Ever-Present! O God, O my Worshipped One! O God, O my Intended One! O God, O my Praised One! O God, O my Compassionate! O God, O my Kind! O God, O my Exalted! O God, O my Noble! O God, O my Gracious! O God, O my Just! O God, O my Majestic! O God, O my Beautiful! O God, O my First! O God, O my Noble! O God, O my Oft-Returning! O God, O my Bestower! O God, O my Ever-Turning! O God, O my Watchful! O God, O my Beloved!
Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thyself, for naught besides Thee can measure Thee, and I bear witness unto Thee, and suffice through Thee, and draw near unto Thee, and to Thy like I testify, and all things testify that Thou art God, there is no God but Thee, alone with no partner. Thine is the kingdom and the dominion, Thine is the might and the omnipotence, Thine is the power and the divinity, Thine is the might and the grandeur, Thine is the sovereignty and the human realm, Thine is the might and the majesty, Thine is the countenance and the perfection, Thine is the visage and the beauty, Thine is the mercy and the bounty, Thine is the authority and the justice, Thine is the likeness and the examples, Thine is the bestowal and the glorification, Thine is the might and the invincibility, Thine is the mercy and the detachment, Thine is the joy and the gladness, Thine is the grandeur and the pride, and Thine is whatsoever Thou lovest in the kingdom of Thy earth and Thy heaven.
Thou hast ever been one God, single, eternal, self-subsisting, ever-living, everlasting, eternal, self-dependent. Thou hast not taken unto Thyself any consort or son. Thou dost ever give life and cause to die, then cause to die and give life. Verily, Thou art powerful, mighty, and omnipotent; manifest, inaccessible, and all-knowing. Thou hast ever been a Living One Who dieth not, a Sovereign Whose rule passeth not away, a Just One Who wrongeth not, a Potentate Who changeth not, and a Single One from Whose grasp nothing escapeth, whether in the heavens or on the earth or between them. Thou createst what Thou willest by Thy command; verily, Thou art powerful over all things.
Let all things glorify Thee, let all things unite in Thee, let all things sanctify Thee, let all things remember Thee, let all things praise Thee, let all things triumph through Thee, and let all things stand in awe of Thy majesty. The measure of Thy bounty hath ever been equally bestowed upon all atoms, and the source of Thy manifestations hath ever been according to Thy creation. The temples of Thy unity, the spirits of them that sanctify Thee, the souls of them that unite with Thee, the bodies of them that magnify Thee, and the essences of them that exalt Thee have inscribed that which exalteth Thee.
Let them be raised thereby to the ultimate bounty of Thy creation and let them attain thereby to the source of Thy grace in invention. Let all who possess them recite what is inscribed therein of Thy verses and words, that they may receive thereby from what hath been sent down from Thee a goodly and abundant provision, an exalted and inaccessible gift. O God! Protect them that preserve them more than their own eyes, and honor them with that which befitteth Thy verses. Grant them from Thy presence every provision until the Day when Thou shalt manifest Him with Thy signs on the Day of Resurrection. Preserve them through the angels of the heavens and the earth and all that lieth between them, by Thy power.
I bear witness that I have not made lawful a single letter of my words to one who believeth not in Thee, for it is dearer to my heart than all else. I beseech Thee to ordain for whomsoever possesseth it the richest portion that may profit him in this world and the next, through Thy grace, Thy generosity, Thy bounty and Thy loving-kindness. For Thou hast created the like of the sign of Thy Self, then created therein Thy signs, then manifested through it what was inscribed of Thy words.
Verily, glory hath taken glory from glory possessed of glory with him who knoweth Thee and believeth in Thee and beareth witness to the creation of his soul that there is none other God but Thee, that none is worthy of worship save Thee alone, and none is worthy of adoration in truth except Thee. I am Thy worshipper, Thy prostrate servant, Thy suppliant, Thy rememberer, Thy thankful one, and Thy praiser.
I testify, and all things with me, that every object of worship from above Thy glory down to the depths beneath the earth is false and evanescent except Thy Self. Glory be unto Thee! There is no God but Thee. Thy grandeur hath been exalted above all contingent things, Thy will hath prevailed over all in the kingdoms of earth and heaven, Thy desire hath been raised above all contingent things, Thy word hath appeared above all who are in the kingdoms of earth and heaven, and Thy majesty hath been exalted above the reckoning of any contingent being.
I testify that Thou art the Subduer Who shall never be subdued, the Manifest Who shall never be manifested, the Victor Who shall never be vanquished, the Inaccessible Who shall never be hindered, and the Omnipotent Whom none shall ever frustrate. Thou doest what Thou willest by Thy power and ordainest what Thou pleasest by Thy might. Thine is the praise from the most exalted height to the lowest atom, and Thine is the glory in the highest heavens and then in the most glorious veils. All are Thy servants and in Thy grasp. Thou directest the creation of the heavens and the earth and all that lieth between them by Thy will, and Thou createst from Thy hidden names in the veils of the manifest ones through Thy grandeur. For were it not that Thou createst these manifestations in Thy kingdom, how could Thy sincere servants follow Thy commandments or how could the guided ones be guided to the source of Thy glory?
O God! By the dawning of Thy glory, cause to descend from Thy presence upon him who guides to Thee—for he guides to Him Whom Thou shalt manifest—from every splendor its most splendid, from every majesty its most majestic, from every beauty its most beautiful, from every grandeur its most grand, from every light its most luminous, from every mercy its most expansive, from every word its most perfect, from every name its greatest, from every might its mightiest, from every will its most decisive, from all Thy knowledge its most penetrating, from all Thy power its most potent, from all Thy words its most pleasing, from all Thy nobility its most noble, from all Thy dominion its most glorious, and from all Thy exaltation its most exalted.
O God! Through these names, make known the measure of Thy signs, Thy words and Thy tokens, so that none among Thy chosen ones may equate Him Whom Thou shalt make manifest, the Manifestation of Thyself on the Day of Resurrection, with anything on earth equal to His traces which point to none but Thee, for less than this befits not the station of them that profess Thy unity, nor the attribute of them that know Thee.
O God! Ordain for the Manifestations of Thy grandeur, might, power, majesty and sovereignty, and for all that Thou art in Thy names and examples, that which befits the sublimity of Thy holiness and the exaltation of Thy bounty. O God! Inspire that Name to convey this prayer to the Source of Greatness, that he may derive sustenance from what hath been sent down from God, and may perceive in what hath been revealed in the temple’s essence a hidden secret, a treasured jewel, a manifest essence, and an overwhelming sovereignty, a transcendent holiness, and thereby manage what he hath intended for his Lord’s religion, not resting for less than the twinkling of an eye in God’s path, and knowing the measure of these days to be like the twenty-three years of Thy Beloved, for what comes after revolves around it.
O God! Make manifest the Manifestations of Thy Cause, raise up the wonders of Thy might, send down the repositories of Thy mystery, inspire the Manifestations of Thy power, and aid Thy martyrs against Thy creatures according to what Thou lovest and art pleased with, for the best of good is Thy good-pleasure, above which there is naught, and below it is all that is beneath Thy good-pleasure, than which there is naught lower.
O God! Create in the hearts of Thy loved ones that which befits the loftiness of the sovereignty of Thy power and the dominion of Thy Lordship, that thereby they and all Thy servants may be strengthened in the exaltation of Thy Faith, the invincibility of Thy Word, the elevation of Thy decree, the glory of Thy might, and the establishment of Thy eternity, for none, O my God, has anything except through Thy grace, Thy bestowal, Thy generosity, Thy glory, Thy favor, Thy exaltation, Thy bounty, Thy sublimity, and Thy perpetuity.
Through Thee have I sought victory, triumph, conquest, elevation, strength, and protection. Therefore, O God, protect me and whosoever is for Thee before us, behind us, to our right, to our left, above our heads, beneath our feet, and from every quarter that reaches us and all that we possess, howsoever Thou willest, wheresoever Thou willest, whithersoever Thou willest, and in whatever way Thou willest. Verily, Thou art the Powerful, the Dominant, the Manifest, the Sufficient, the Mighty, the Triumphant, the Creator, the Glorious, the Supreme, the Victorious. Nothing escapes Thy knowledge in the heavens or on earth or between them, and nothing frustrates Thee in the kingdom of command or creation or below them. Thou createst what Thou willest by Thy command. Verily, Thou art powerful over all things.
O God! Forgive me and accept my repentance through Thy grace and generosity, and send down upon me what befits the sublimity of Thy holiness and the exaltation of Thy might, for we are all Thy servants and in Thy grasp. Glory be unto Thee! I am of those who are thankful. Say: Sufficient unto me is God, there is no God but He. In Him have I placed my trust, and He is the Lord of the mighty throne.
God is Most Great! He is the Most Generous! In the name of God, the Most Generous, the Most Generous! God, there is no God but He, the Most Generous, the Most Generous! Say: God is the Most Generous of the most generous (O Thou Who art Generous). Above every possessor of generosity, none in the heavens or on earth or between them can withhold himself from the Sovereign King of His generosity. He creates whatsoever He willeth by His command. Verily, He hath ever been the Bestower, the Most Bountiful, the All-Generous.
