In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate! In the name of God, the Most Inaccessible, the Most Holy!
Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou hast ever been the One God, Single, Self-Subsisting, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. Thou hast taken neither consort nor son, and Thou hast no partner in sovereignty, nor any protector on earth save by Thy leave. Thou hast exalted Thyself through Thine Essence above all things, and elevated Thyself in Thy pure Being above the heights of all things, and magnified Thyself in Thy Reality above the loftiness of all things, and demonstrated Thy power in Thine Own Self above the might of all things.
Thou art He Whom none of Thy servants hath truly glorified, and Thou art He Whom none of Thy creation hath adequately praised in the kingdom of Thy earth and heaven. Thou art He Whom none hath truly unified according to the reality of Thy oneness and exaltation. Thou art He Whom none hath truly magnified according to the truth of Thy sanctity and might. Thou art He Whom none hath truly extolled according to the reality of Thy glorification and power.
All do glorify Thee, praise Thee, proclaim Thy unity, magnify Thee and extol Thee according to what Thou hast created in the realm of origination and what Thou hast brought into being through invention. Yet how can this befit the sublimity of Thy holy exaltation and the supreme glory of Thy might? Verily, the most elevated essences of creation among the possessors of might, and the most exalted pinnacles of glory among the possessors of loftiness, are severed from Thee by Thy creation and are withheld from the manifestations of Thy likeness by Thy exaltation.
Thou art the One Who existed before all things in the Being of Thine Essence, and Thou art the One Who will exist after all things in the Reality of Thine Eternity. Thou art the Creator of all things through the exaltation of Thy glorious holiness. Thou hast ever been independent of all else besides Thee and sanctified above the praise of Thy creation. Thine is the creation and the command, O my God, despite Thy independence therefrom, and Thine is the kingdom and the dominion, despite Thy freedom from need thereof. Nothing possesses anything except through Thy bestowal, and none has anything save through Thy grace and bounty.
Thou art He Who hath clothed all atoms with the vesture of Thy bounty and Thy bestowals, and hast risen above all the dwellers of Thy earth and Thy heaven through the wondrous creation of glory and praise. I therefore beseech Thee, O my God, at that time, by the most resplendent of all Thy splendours, and the most august of all Thy majesty, and the most beauteous of all Thy beauty, and the greatest of all Thy greatness, and the most luminous of all Thy light, and by all Thy mercy … and by the most perfect of all … and by the mightiest of all Thy glory, and by the most puissant of all Thy might, and by … of all Thy Will, and by the most penetrating of all Thy knowledge, and by the most far-reaching of all Thy power, and by the most pleasing of all Thy utterance, and by the best-beloved of all Thy requests, and by the most exalted of all Thy honour, and by the most enduring of all Thy sovereignty, and by the most glorious of all Thy dominion, and by the loftiest of all Thy sublimity, and by the foremost of all Thy bounties, and by the most wondrous of all Thy signs in Thy sight and the most unassailable with Thee, and by the most exalted of all Thine attributes with Thee and the nearest unto Thee, and by the most impregnable of all Thy dominion with Thee and the nearest unto Thy presence—upon the Tree of Thy love—and upon him who hath forsaken his home in the path of Thy love toward Thee, and hath come as a suppliant, setting forth before Thine eyes that which Thou art; and upon whatsoever is encompassed … by Thy knowledge, O my God, of all …
… for verily Thou art too high and too exalted that anyone should desire Thee, O my God, while Thou desirest him not; or that any soul should love Thee while Thou lovest it not; or that it should purify itself for the ways of Thy good-pleasure while Thou hast not singled it out for the wondrous things of Thy might and the manifestations of Thy Revelation. Send down, then, O God, upon him that wherewith his heart may be satisfied, through the loftiness of Thy good-pleasure and the sublimity of Thy splendour. Preserve him, O God, from … … and from … from his faith and his character, from every quarter that reacheth unto him; and hold Thou in Thy possession, through Thy grace, all that Thou hast possessed, as Thou willest, and when Thou willest, and where Thou willest, by the angels of heaven and earth and whatsoever lieth between them.
Inspire him likewise, O my God, to return unto the abode of its glory and to abide in the house of Thy good-pleasure, if Thou hast ordained for him a way thereunto—so that there may dwell therein those whom Thou hast appointed sorrow, and they may find repose through a tranquillity from Thee and a calm from Thy presence. Verily, Thou, O my God, art the Lord of stations and likenesses, the Lord of wondrousness and names. Bestow Thou Thy favour upon whom Thou wilt, as Thou wilt, through whatsoever Thou wilt.
Therefore bestow, O my God, upon him what is best for him in his journey and dwelling place. And if he cannot attain to this, then cause him, O my God, to dwell in the sanctuary of Thy Friend, upon the third of Thy trustees, or what [comforts] his heart from the repositories of Thy glory and exaltation. For verily Thou, O my God, dost single out for Thy grace and mercy whomsoever Thou willest. Therefore inspire him, O my God, to attain the presence of those whose hearts are drawn to Thy holy court, if he can find a way to Thy good-pleasure. Otherwise, let him pray for them in his heart without [mentioning] what Thou wouldst not like to witness concerning Thy loved ones. Verily Thou dost aid with Thy help whomsoever Thou willest and inspire the path of Thy good-pleasure and satisfaction in whomsoever Thou desirest.
I testify before Thee and all things that I have accepted what he hath intended in his migration in Thy path, that he may not witness in the path of Thy love what Thou wouldst not like me to witness concerning him. For Thou seest at this moment, O my God, Thy decrees for the people of Thy love and Thy trials for the people of Thy Cause. I have therefore entrusted his affair and my affair to Theea€“he who hath desired the path of Thy love. Verily Thou, O my God, art sufficient for all things and nothing in the heavens or on earth or between them can suffice without Thee. Through Thee have I sought sufficiency, satisfaction, wealth, strength, help, protection and stability. There is no power nor strength except through Thee.
Thou art He Whom nothing in the heavens or earth or between them can frustrate, and nothing in the kingdoms of command and creation or below them escapes Thy knowledge. Thou doest what Thou willest, as Thou willest, by what Thou willest, and Thou decreest what Thou desirest, as Thou desirest, by what Thou desirest. Thy proof is manifest to all who dwell in the kingdom of Thy earth and heaven, and Thy Word is [supreme] over all who dwell in the kingdom of Thy names and attributes.
Therefore send down, O my God, at this moment from the treasuries of Thy wondrous Lordship and the repositories of Thy eternal glory upon the households whose inhabitants glorify Thee morning and evening, and let them grieve in the path of Thy love in such wise as to tranquilize their hearts, spirits, souls and [loved ones], and [entrust] to Thee the affairs of their last and their first, for all this is within Thy grasp, O my God, not in the grasp of any besides Thee, and in Thy right hand, O my Beloved, not in the right hand of any other than Thee.
Thou art powerful over what Thou willest and mighty over what Thou desirest. Therefore hasten, O my God, in that which brings peace to the hearts of Thy loved ones. Verily Thou art powerful over all things, and Thy mercy hath preceded all who are in the heavens and earth and between them, and Thou art the Most Merciful of the merciful.
