BB00227: Du’a’ li’n-Nuri’l-Ahmar

In Thy Book, through every prayer that Thou hast fashioned or that hath been uttered about Thee, for all grace belongeth unto Thee, resideth in Thee, emanateth from Thee, and returneth unto Thee, and there is no power nor strength except through Thee, and unto Thee is the final return. This is a prayer to the crimson light whose bearer was Israfil, peace be upon him:

In the Name of God, the Exalted, the Most Holy

O my God! I beseech Thee by the most magnificent of Thy Divinity, though all Thy Divinity is magnificent with Thee, then in the Mother Book, O my God! I beseech Thee by all Thy Divinity.

O my God! I beseech Thee by the most singular of Thy Singleness, though all Thy Singleness is singular with Thee, then in the Mother Book, O my God! I beseech Thee by all Thy Singleness.

O God! I beseech Thee by the most enriching of Thy riches, and all Thy riches are abundance with Thee and then in the Mother Book. O God! I beseech Thee by all Thy riches.

O God! I beseech Thee by Thyself—there is none beside Thee equal, comparable, similar, like or resembling Thee—and by that which Thou hast loved for Thyself or lovest through the sublimity of Thy inaccessibility and the exaltation of Thy transcendence. For all things, O my God, bow down before Thy Countenance and are humble before Thine eyes. Thou art unique in Thy unity above all contingent beings, singular in the sovereignty of Thy eternity above all existing things, supreme in the dominion of Thy self-subsistence above all created things, and exalted in the inaccessible heights of Thine everlasting nature above all that is still or in motion. Thou art independent in the independence of Thy sanctity above all who dwell in the kingdoms of earth and heaven, sovereign in the sovereignty of Thy glory above all who inhabit the realms of names and attributes. Thou hast taken possession, through the dominion of Thy beloved nature, of all that Thou hast loved in the depths of names and attributes, and art magnificent in the majesty of Thy glory as the Object of all desire, above all that can be mentioned through similitude or allusion.

Thou art the Exalted One before Whose exaltation all bow down in humility, and the Attributed One before Whose transcendence all stand in reverence. All glorify Thee, proclaim Thy unity, magnify Thee and extol Thee according to their capacity. But perchance there may be directed toward Thee that which Thou hast foreordained of pure, crystalline, essential and abstract realities, and that by which Thou art remembered in the kingdom of names and attributes. There is no hour which Thou hast not made great, majestic, beautiful, mighty and illumined with the light that quivers from the Dayspring of morning and shines forth from the holy Star.

We shall assuredly cause to descend, O God, Thy light upon the Tree of Oneness and that which Thy knowledge hath encompassed therein, as befits the sublimity of Thy generosity, the exaltation of Thy grace, the elevation of Thy bounty, the inaccessibility of Thy tenderness and the independence of Thy loving-kindness; and upon all save the Tree of Thy love that which it deserves before Thy justice, the sovereignty of Thy omnipotence, Thy power, the dominion of Thy might, Thy glory and the court of Thy supreme grandeur. For Thy mercy transcends all mercy, Thy severity all severity, Thy might all might, Thy sovereignty all sovereignty, Thy grandeur all grandeur, and Thy power all power. Grant us, O God, that which we deserve, and pardon us, O God, through Thy grace and bounty for that which we deserve not before the independence of the sovereignty of Thy oneness and the majesty of the dominion of Thy eternity. Verily, Thou art the Self-Sufficient, the Most Exalted, the All-Forgiving, the Inaccessible, possessed of might and majesty.

Bless, O God, the bearer of Thy crimson light, Israfil, peace be upon him, morning and evening.
