BB00517: Letter to Haji Siyyid ’Ali Kirmani (from Medina)

In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

To Haji Siyyid Ali Kirmani:

I have read this letter of thine. Hearken, then, to that which I shall impart unto thee, by the leave of God. Verily the mention of thy Lord’s Name is the truth that guideth thee to the straight path. And verily it is exalted above every mighty word. None can comprehend its knowledge save whom thy Lord willeth, for He is, in truth, powerful over all things.

Be thou steadfast in the Faith as though thou wert standing in the presence of God—this is indeed a manifest balance.

The word of innovation hath been decreed in truth, and thy Lord is not unjust to His servants. This is the path of thy Lord—follow thou it in truth, for God hath not appointed, on that Day, any witness or helper besides the mention of thy Lord’s Name. Work thou for God as though God had created none besides thee as friend. Aid thou the Cause of thy Lord, for the helpers shall attain an excellent station with thy Lord—this hath been irrevocably decreed.

Verily thy Lord hath sent down in His Book the decree of creation, yet none remember the signs of thy Lord save those who bear His covenant upon their necks. They who pledge allegiance to the mention of thy Lord’s Name do but pledge allegiance unto God—the hand of God is above their hands. Sufficient is God as a helper and witness. Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of the Throne, above all they describe. Peace be upon the Messengers. And praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.
