In the Name of God, the Most Inaccessible, the Most Holy
Glorified art Thou, O my God! I bear witness, and all things bear witness, that Thou art God, there is no God but Thee, alone with no partner. Thine is the Kingdom and the Dominion, then the Oneness and the Might, then the Power and the Divine Realm, then the Grandeur and the Manifestation, then the Sovereignty and the Human Realm. Thou givest life and causeth death, then causeth death and givest life. Verily Thou art the Ever-Living Who dieth not, and the King Who passeth not away, and the Just Who wrongeth not, and the Sovereign Who changeth not, and the Single One from Whose grasp nothing escapeth, whether in the heavens or on the earth or between them. Thou createst what Thou willest by Thy Command. Verily, Thou art powerful over all things.
Moreover, I bear witness that Thou hast ever been, existing before all things, and existing with all things, and existing above all things, and bringing all things into being. Nothing can know Thee, and nothing can describe Thee, though all things have known Thee and prostrated before Thee. Glorified art Thou, there is no God but Thee. Thou hast ever been one God, Single, Eternal, Self-Subsisting, Ever-Lasting, Ever-Abiding. Thou hast taken neither consort nor son.
The heavens and all therein are Thine, the earth and all thereon are Thine, and whatsoever is between them and beneath them is Thine, Thine alone. There is no God but Thee. I bear witness that all excellence lieth in knowing Thee and following what hath been sent down from Thy presence, wherein Thou hast favored him who hath mentioned in his book the essence of knowledge and wisdom, in that he hath testified concerning Thy Self that Thou art Thou, and none can know Thee save Thyself. And verily my saying “Thou art Thou”—Thou art exalted above this and sanctified beyond it. Rather, this is according to Thy revelation in me and Thy manifestation unto me.
By Thy might! All knowledge was created for this, and all wisdom was endowed for this. Yet all remain veiled save those from whom Thou hast removed the veils and shown them the creation of their souls through what Thou hast revealed to them in the Sacred Scrolls. After attaining certitude in this, no excellence that I might ask of Thee for him shall be diminished, nor shall he have any desire besides that which I might beseech Thee to remove from him.
Therefore, O God, enable him to act according to what he hath known of Thy knowledge and to find shelter in the shade of what Thou hast revealed in the Bayan beforehand. By Thy grace Thou bestowest excellence upon whomsoever Thou willest, just as Thou hast bestowed it upon this one, though I knew not his name nor recognized his trace, but I beheld the essence of his words and revealed unto him what was befitting when he was mentioned before Thee, after he had written this not in a book but inscribed it at the end of his book.
O God! Do Thou send down, corresponding to the number of his name—the name of Thy Fourth Proof from before—and upon his son Ahmad—the name of Thy Beloved in heaven—and upon whosoever is like him in Thy good-pleasure, that which befitteth the sublimity of Thy generosity and the exaltation of Thy grace. Verily, Thou art the Single One, the All-Compelling, the Most Exalted.
