For Haji Mahmúd: let him take it for himself, and then convey it to him whose name is the Emigrant from the Land of the Letter Mim, and thereafter to whosoever abideth beneath his shadow.

In the name of God, the Most Mighty, the Most Mighty

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I testify before Thee and before all things that Thou art God, there is no God but Thee, alone with no partner. Thine is the dominion and the kingdom, Thine the might and the power, Thine the strength and the divinity, Thine the force and sovereignty, Thine the glory and majesty, Thine the countenance and beauty, Thine the direction and perfection, Thine the stations and grandeur, Thine the greatness and independence, Thine the pride and sublimity, Thine the might and inaccessibility, Thine the power and exaltation, Thine the joy and gladness, Thine the sovereignty and authority, and Thine is whatsoever Thou hast loved or wilt love in the kingdom of Thy Cause and creation.

Thou art the First, O my God, and there is naught before Thee; Thou art the Last, O my Beloved, and there is none after Thee; Thou art the Manifest, O my Desired One, and there is nothing above Thee; and Thou art the Hidden, O my Adored One, and there is naught below Thee. Sanctified are all Thy names and exalted are all Thine examples. Before Thee boweth down whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth and whatsoever lieth between them, and before Thee prostrateth whatsoever is in the kingdom of command and creation and whatsoever is beneath them.

Glory be unto Thee and exalted art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and beautified art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and magnified art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and glorified art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and sanctified art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and elevated art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and honored art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and mighty art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and powerful art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and compelling art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and ordained art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and sovereign art Thou! Glory be unto Thee and dominant art Thou!

Thou wert one God, Single, Eternal, Individual, Ever-living, Self-subsisting, Sovereign, All-pervading, Holy, Everlasting, Eternal, Self-dependent, All-powerful, All-glorious, All-mighty. Thou hast taken neither consort nor son, and Thou hast no partner in what Thou hast created, nor any helper in what Thou hast fashioned. Thou hast created all things by Thy power and ordained them by Thine ordinance, and Thou hast formed all things by Thy will and fashioned them by Thy forming.

Glory be unto Thee and exalted art Thou! Thou didst make Thyself known on the day of Thy manifestation, whereupon Thou didst make known the essences, causing them to enter into Thy life and dwelling them in the precincts of Thy holiness and good-pleasure. And he who was veiled remained veiled after Thou hadst completed Thy proof against him and established Thy bounty upon him, through Thy justice concerning him and his injustice against himself, until Thou didst separate between the fire and the light, and distinguished between those in the kingdom of good-pleasure and those in darkness.

Glory be unto Thee and exalted art Thou! Thy self-sufficiency hath ever been and how much more from Thy creation, and Thy independence of Thine own Essence shall ever be and how much more from Thy servants. Glory be unto Thee! There is no God but Thee. Verily, I am the first of them that bow down. I shall sanctify Thee above all that through which the contingent things have sanctified or will sanctify Thee, and I shall exalt Thee above all that through which existing things have exalted or will exalt Thee. Thou art sanctified above all names and exalted above all similitudes, and holy above whatsoever is in the kingdom of command and creation.

Blessed art Thou! Thou hast said, and Thy word is truth in the Bayan: Say: O God! Verily Thou art the One who bestoweth favors in the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them. Thou givest favor unto whom Thou willest and withholdest it from whom Thou willest; Thou raisest whom Thou willest and abaseth whom Thou willest; Thou exaltest whom Thou willest and humblest whom Thou willest; Thou aidest whom Thou willest and forsaketh whom Thou willest; Thou enrichest whom Thou willest and impoverisheth whom Thou willest. In Thy grasp is the kingdom of all things. Thou createst what Thou willest, how Thou willest, when Thou willest. Verily, Thou art powerful over all things.

Glory be unto Thee and exalted art Thou! Thou art He who seeth all Thy creation and recompenseth all Thy servants. Whosoever attaineth unto good through Thee, that is his recompense from Thee; and whosoever is deprived of good at the Daysprings of Thy unity—this is Thy justice towards him and Thy fire within his own self. Glorified art Thou, glorified art Thou! How near art Thou to Thy creation and how gracious art Thou to Thy servants! Send down, then, upon the guides to Thy love and affection and knowledge and good-pleasure that which will make them independent of aught else but Thee, and will place all else but them under their shadow, through Thy power. For nothing is hidden from Thy knowledge, whether in the heavens or on the earth or between them, and nothing in the kingdom of command and creation and whatsoever lieth beneath them can frustrate Thee.

Thou hast ever been praised in the workings of Thine acts, beloved in the subtlety of Thy wisdom, thanked for the wonders of Thy bounty, described by the Daysprings of Thy oneness, and known by the Dawning-places of Thy singleness, and loved by all who are created and shall be created through what Thou hast revealed unto them of the sign of Thine eternity. Thou art the One Who existed before all things, and Thou art the Being after all things, and Thou art the Creator of all things, and Thou art the Essence apart from all things. Thou hast ever been supreme above all contingent beings, manifest above all existing things, inaccessible above all created things, exalted above all things that exist, transcendent above all who dwell in the kingdoms of earth and heaven, sovereign above all who inhabit the realm of names and attributes, and mighty over all things through signs and evidences. Thou art the Witness to all that is hidden and manifest, and Thou art the Knower of all that is high and low, and Thou art the Encompasser of all that is brilliant and minute, and Thou art the Ruler over all that is great and small, and Thou art the Powerful over whatsoever Thou hast created or wilt create, whether lofty or lowly.

Glorified and exalted art Thou! Transform the fire into light for all who are in earth and heaven, for Thy generosity hath ever guided Thy servants to the horizon of Thy good-pleasure, and Thy grace forever draweth the inhabitants of Thy earth to the summit of Thy glory. Thou givest life and causest death, then causest death and givest life, and verily Thou art the Ever-Living Who dieth not, and the King Who passeth not away, and the Justice that wrongeth not, and the Sovereign Who changeth not, and the Single One from Whose grasp escapeth not anything whether in the heavens or on the earth or between them. Thou createst what Thou willest by Thy command. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest.
