BB00541: Letter to the wife of the Bab, in Bushihr
In the Name of God, the Most High
O my sweet heart, may God Most High protect you!
Think not that the cessation of letters stems from weariness,
or that there is something in my heart that would scorch it.
Rather, my hand wrote to you letters
which my tears raced to wash away.
God is my witness that since the time of our parting, such grief has encompassed me that I cannot write, but since destiny flows according to wisdom, it has flowed thus. May the Lord of the World, by the right of the five prostrations, cause the means of return to flow in the most excellent manner.
It has been two days since I arrived in Bushehr. The heat is intense, but the Lord of the World is the Protector. In any case, apparently a ship will be dispatched this month. May the Lord of the World protect us through His grace.
At the time of my departure, meeting with my revered grandmother was not possible—convey greetings and request prayers as well.
Regarding one roll of termeh fabric, God willing I will write to Bombay. I also have a maidservant in mind. God willing, whatever is destined will come to pass.
And peace be upon you, and the mercy of God and His blessings.
