BB00453: Du’a’-i-Salavat-i-’Ali Ibn-i-Husayn

Glorified art Thou, O my God! How can I soar into the atmosphere of Thy holy air, or ascend to the carpet of intimacy with Thee, or stand in the heaven of Thy divine essence, or dwell in the atmosphere of Thy mighty realm, or rise to the horizon of Thy generosity, when I know of Thy oneness and singleness and self-subsistence and eternity and everlastingness and permanence and holiness and sanctity and belovedness and purposefulness and worthiness of worship and desirability and visibility and eagerness and knowability and describability? For none of these befits the servant before the Sovereign of Thine eternity, nor is proper for the one lorded over when faced with the dawning lights of Thy lordship.

Therefore, O my God, send Thy blessings upon Thy friend and son of Thy friends, ʿAli ibn al-Husayn, Thy proof unto Thy creation and Thy sign in the kingdom of Thy earth and heaven, the light of Thy countenance in the manifestations of Thy creation and the garment of Thy face in the inner realities of Thy invention, and the expression of the sovereignty of Thy oneness in the kingdom of Thy sanctity and majesty. For verily Thou, O my God, hast ever distinguished the people of Thy Cause with wondrous conditions and bestowed upon the people of Thy love sublime and glorious favors.

Therefore, O my God, send upon him the most excellent blessings Thou hast ever sent upon any of Thy friends, and the most resplendent that Thou hast ever caused to descend upon any of Thy loved ones. And make content, O my God, his heart with Thee, and his spirit with Thy Prophet, and his soul with the Imams who came before him and after him, and his body with the pillars of the veils of Thy holy might and the suns of the glory of Thy exaltation and the sanctified Manifestations that prove Thy oneness and the shining stars in the kingdom of Thy sovereignty—such that his knowledge encompasses nothing except what He loves, being certain of Thy oneness, believing in Thy self-subsistence, acknowledging the prophethood of Thy Beloved, confirming the authority of Thy friends, and awaiting the manifestations of Thy gates. For none but Thee can do this, and Thy command is closer than saying to a thing “Be” and it is.

Therefore, O my God, send down upon him that which will bring comfort to his eyes before God and the Imams from his lineage. For Thou knowest what is in the heavens and what is on earth, and Thou hast power over all things, and Thou art the Lord of all the worlds.
