BB00395: Du’a’-i-Salavat-i-Husayn

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou art the Light of the heavens and the earth and all that lieth between them. From time immemorial Thou hast been one God, single, unique, eternal, self-subsisting, ever-living. Thou hast taken neither consort nor son, and verily all that existeth in the kingdom of earth and heaven lieth within Thy grasp and right hand. Thou createst what Thou willest, and providest for whom Thou desirest, causeth to die and giveth life, and unto Thee shall all creation return.

I beseech Thee, O my God, by Thy Name through which Thou didst create Muhammad, Thy Beloved, and by Thy Name through which Thou didst create Ali, Thy Friend, and by Thy Name through which Thou didst create Fatima, the fruit of the tree of Thy love, and by Thy Name through which Thou didst create Hasan and made him a proof unto Thy creation, and by Thy Name through which Thou didst create Husayn—Thy blessings be upon them all, now and before and after—and made him a proof from Thee unto Thy creation, that Thou mayest send upon him the most excellent blessings Thou hast ever bestowed upon any of Thy loved ones, and the most noble favors Thou hast ever conferred upon any of Thy chosen ones.

Ordain for him, O my God, from Thy glory its most glorious, from Thy majesty its most majestic, from Thy beauty its most beautiful, from Thy grandeur its most grand, from Thy light its most luminous, from Thy mercy its most expansive, from Thy words their most perfect, from Thy perfection its most perfect, from Thy names their greatest, from Thy might its mightiest, from Thy will its most decisive, from Thy purpose its swiftest, from Thy power its most powerful, from Thy decree its most just, from Thy providence its nearest, from Thy permission its most elevated, from Thy cause its most subtle, from Thy Book its most excellent, from Thy knowledge its most penetrating, from Thy power its most far-reaching, from Thy word its most pleasing, from Thy questions their most beloved, from Thy honor its most honorable, from Thy sovereignty its most enduring, from Thy dominion its most glorious, from Thy tenderness its most tender, from Thy exaltation its most exalted, from Thy bounty its most ancient, from Thy signs their most wondrous.

And from all things that which hath no equal as recompense for his martyrdom in Thy path, his satisfaction with what lieth with Thee, his detachment unto Thee, his desire for the exaltation of Thy oneness and the establishment of Thy sanctity. Make content, O my God, his heart with Thee, his spirit with Thy Prophet, his soul with his mother and brother, and his body with the pillars of Thy House. Purify, O my God, all that lieth within his knowledge that there remain naught save love for him, and cause him then to descend into the highest chambers of Thy paradise and the most glorious degrees of Thy presence, whereby his eyes may be solaced. And since this day is a day of festival, I love not to mention aught save the letters of the most high. Verily Thou art most bountiful in grace and mercy toward him who fulfilleth his covenant, and most severe in might and power toward others besides him. Glory be unto Thee! There is no God but Thee. There is no power nor strength except through Thee. Verily Thou art the Lord of all worlds.
