He is the Most Great, the Most Ancient, the Most Generous
God testifieth that there is none other God but Him. His is the Kingdom and the Dominion, then the Might and the Omnipotence, then the Power and the Divine Realm, then the Strength and the Ruby, then the Sovereignty and the Human Kingdom. He causeth to live and to die, then causeth to die and to live. Verily He is the Ever-Living Who dieth not, and the King Who passeth not away, and the Just Who oppresseth not, and the Sovereign Who changeth not, and the Single One from Whose grasp nothing escapeth, whether in the heavens or on the earth or between them. He createth what He willeth by His command. He is, verily, powerful over all things.
To continue: O Sayyah of Truth—upon thee be the Kingdom Absolute—and upon whomsoever He hath sheltered within His precinct through His word of truth, “As is meet, seek thou after Me.” He hath spoken in thy regard that He hath entered thy precinct, forasmuch as thou didst abide in His service. That which I inscribed at the head of My Book—by a secret for this measure and no more—hath descended for all the God-fearing. Thy letter hath come down; I have discerned thy purpose and laid it before thy Lord and Mine—the Lord of all the worlds. God hath sent down unto thee clear verses wherein abideth every bounty existent. Recite them, and recite what therein was revealed for the Name of God, the August—ninety-two—in the Land of Ba’; bear witness thereto, and be among the thankful.
Then—by thy Lord’s right—whensoever thou enterest the Most Exalted Paradise and the Most Glorious Garden, magnify, with My tongue, in that supremely lofty court: “O my God, let Thy Lordship flow upon my tongue!” Look thou not save upon the frames of those intended ones and the decayed bones, for they received upon their lines the Names of God made manifest in those hallowed temples, inasmuch as from God, their Lord, they arose—openly, visibly—and unveiled their Lord, fearing not the reproach of any reproacher in the paths of their Creator. Grieve thou not for their outward thrones: such were but accidents of the arena. Yet the matter that hath withered remaineth in those proofs until the Day when God shall appear in the world of the Cloud once again.
Magnify, then, over them—and increase thy praise—at every time, before time, and after time; for they, verily, are the first and the most ancient; they, verily, are the victors and the triumphant; they, verily, are the living—nourished with their Lord by whatsoever they desire. I have dispatched two Leaves from the Leaves of Fa’—may my spirit be a ransom unto him—and one Leaf remaineth; even now have I sent it to thy presence, for I was commanded to do so, and summoned thereto in my supplication. Magnify, then, over it—at every time, before time, and after time; and magnify over the Name of God, the Most High, the Most Exalted; depart not therefrom save by His leave. And praise be to God, the Lord of all the worlds.
The constraint is exceeding great—marvellous indeed! O King, O Bearer of Glad-Tidings: he is the most safeguarded, the most ennobled, in his perusal of the Sayyah of Truth; and the friend of the Friend of God, unbounded—he is the Most Exalted, the Most Exalted! A beloved beyond every love be upon thee from thy Lord—the inmost heart, the solace of their eyes—upon him be every protection! He hath set out, at the command of the Presence of the Beloved—exalted be His love, magnified His affection—hoping that a meeting may come to pass. Deliver Duldul unto them, for it is beloved of the Presence of the Beloved.
Say: He—verily—is God; there is no God but He, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved. Hasten thou unto Us, if there be a wondrous matter which the believers await. I have, before this, sent unto thee a Book, together with what God hath sent down upon thee. Take fast hold thereof, and be among the thankful. And praise be to God, the Lord of all the worlds.
