BB00357: Tawqi’a Tahrim Sharb-i-Dukhkhan (in honor of Shaykh ’Ali)
He is the Most High, the Most Great, the Wondrous
Glorified be He Who knoweth what is in the heavens and what is on earth. There is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Wise.
He is the One Who createth what He willeth by His command. Those who have disbelieved in God and His signs—these are they who are the lost. And those who have believed in God and His signs and followed the light that guideth mankind unto a straight path—these are they who are guided by the Book of God and these are they who shall inherit the gardens of eternity, for which there is no equal in thy Lord’s Book. Therein hath been prepared by thy Lord’s leave all that their souls desire, and the remembrance of God therein is greater than what men ask for.
And if today the veil were lifted from their eyes, they would surely witness that the remembrance of God among them is dearer to them than their own selves, and it is greater in God’s Book than what men do. These are clear signs for those who believe in them. And for those who disbelieve in God’s signs there is a grievous punishment.
It hath been forbidden in the Book for people to smoke tobacco and drink wine, and God hath not placed any healing in them. Those who prescribe them for some people have ruled by the judgment of the Evil One. These people drink naught but the boiling water of hell, did they but perceive it.
Say: O people, fear God and deny not Him Who guideth you to a straight path. The pillars of religion are raised forever, and it is the Sacred House, if ye but knew it.
He is the One by Whose light ye were guided before, and about Whom ye shall be questioned on the Day of Resurrection. Today no deed of any of you shall be accepted unless ye believe in the remembrance of your Lord’s name and act with justice. Say: Fear ye God on the day when ye shall be resurrected, then shall ye be gathered unto God. On that day ye shall stand before God, then shall ye be brought before Him. On that day thy Lord God shall judge between people with truth according to what their hands have earned, and thy Lord God is not heedless of what the workers do.
He is the One Who knoweth the unseen of the heavens and earth, and guideth whom He willeth, and none go astray save the heedless people. Those who fabricate lies about thy Lord God, then follow their own desires against those who believe in God and His signs—these shall not prosper. They enjoy but a brief pleasure in this worldly life, and when they die they shall be tormented in the fire and shall not be helped.
Those who judge without the judgment detailed in the Book aforetime and who oppress those who are weak in the earth without right—these shall not prosper. Say: Power belongeth unto God and might is in His hand. He doeth what He willeth and He is the Prevailer over His creation. He judgeth between them with justice and He is most severe in punishing the oppressors and most stern in retribution.
My Lord, judge between me and the people with truth, and pour forth upon me patience, and draw me unto Thee, and join me with those who are nigh unto Thee. And should anyone become aware of these verses, let him strive in God’s path with truth, and let no one cause him fear, nor let the blame of any blamer turn him aside, and let him work for naught but God and be among the witnesses in God’s religion.
Should all people gather together to produce the like of these verses, they would never be able, even if they were helpers one to another. This is a perfect proof from God’s Book for all on earth, and God sufficeth as a witness over the worlds.
