BB00334: Letter to ’Abdu’l-Karim Qazvini
In the margin thereof there hath been inscribed, under the name of a name from among the Names, these designations:
The Name of Azal—for the Eternal Fruit, the Divine Direction, and the Everlasting Countenance, in remembrance of the Mighty;
The Name of Jalil—for the Name of God, the Great, the Lord of return and recurrence, as We have already mentioned unto thee;
The Name of Qayyum—for the Name of God, the Generous, the Ancient Bounty of God, proclaiming His everlasting gladness and recalling the remembrance of eternity.
Glorified, glorified be He above all that the remembrancers remember—a pure and constant glorification!
And the Name of Hayy belongeth to the Single, the Unique, concerning whom it hath been sent down:
“The Manifestation of the One is better than the worship of the two worlds; and if he prevail, he is the Prevailing; verily the hosts of God—they are the victors.”
And the Name of Baha pertaineth to the Tree of Baha and to Him Who dwelleth in the Ocean of the Cloud. Say unto it in my tongue: Praise thou God, thy Lord and the Lord of all things, inasmuch as He hath answered thy prayer and hath quickened His loved ones—praised and exalted.
And the Name of Dayyan is in the Name of Ahad, in the presence of glory: the Unique One, the lion, the fierce champion, the ocean of light, the ascender unto the summit of attainment in the paths of God, the King, the All-Knowing.
And the Name of ʿAli is in the Name of Jalil, in the Name of God, the Most High, the Most Exalted.
I have sent these unto you: preserve them, and do not blacken them by consigning them to other names. Moreover, before this I sent unto you, by our Most Great Master, many portions and divers temples: a temple for the Name of God, the Great; a temple for the presence of Sulayman; a temple of Light from Khuy; a temple for the daughter of the Name of God, the Generous; and temples for the Unique and others, and for the companions. A portion of the verses is for thee, and a portion for the presence of the Great, and for Waliyat and others.
The presence hath been commanded to convey them all unto thee—through the Temple of the One Who is implored for aid—for the Unique and others: that is, to transcribe them all, then to deliver them to their names. And whatever you mentioned, I sent unto you. Wherefore I know not what hath occurred that matters have become thus. For God will suffice thee: were there to be diminished from the traces of My Pen, by thy pen, but a single letter, I would take it away from thee; yet He willeth to abase every veil of yours. Thus do all with all, until they are drawn, one to another.
And no soul shall grieve, nor any book, but that upon its head is written a script: “O my Name!”—within it the Temple of Eternity, the everlasting Circle, the thread of Divinity, and a line informing from God, the Hearer, the Most High.
To Sami’ al-A’la—with the Most High—deliver thou this: convey it unto the Beauteous Fruit. And the book of the presence of Asadu’llah, the Name of God, the Dayyan. And the letter of La Siyyid Husayn—do ye inquire of him also concerning the portion: whenever a portion is sent down in the name of La Siyyid Husayn, forward it.
O my gracious Lord! Before the verses, the discourses, the prayers, and the visitation-texts were sent down from God, the All-Guarding, the Self-Subsisting, God sent down the verses and the visitation-texts and the discourses and the prayers—He, besides Whom there is none other God, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved—upon the fairest script, such as no script can match, and upon the choicest paper, such as no paper can rival, in the days of deliverance, in the month of ʿAla’. And after this God will send down upon the Manifestation of His Self and the Presence of His Being—let him therefore cover it with a comely covering.
And I sent certain locks—tokens of Divinity—for the Fruit of Baha, from a direction, within the fold of a paper: convey it unto His resting-place, within another fold, and the letter of the Fruit. It was wrapped in yellow; nothing was written upon its head. Yet all existence could not number a single letter from among the letters of the Temple. Had We willed, We could have increased his longing, that the like thereof might appear in that hour.
And therein are two leaves, with My wondrous seals; and My signet is engraved with these words:
“This is a lofty path, in the Mother Book, straight—leading unto the resting-place of Azal and the First Light, the Name of God, the Most High, the Most Exalted.”
Read ye it with care.
