Prayer of Muhammad ibn al-Hasan, peace be upon them both

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Verily, Thou art the Creator of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them by Thy command, not from anything. And verily Thou art the Fashioner of all things by Thy command, not from anything. Thou hast ever been, existing before all things, and Thou wilt ever be, existing after all things, and Thou art at all times the Maker of all things.

Glory be unto Thee, that I should describe Thee through other than Thyself, or that I should describe Thee apart from Thyself, for verily Thou art manifest above all things, and powerful over all things, and dominant over all things, and standing over every soul. Thou knowest what it hath earned and bearest witness unto what it earneth. Thou art supreme over what Thou hast created and wilt create. Not an atom escapeth Thy knowledge, nor doth anything elude Thy grasp, nor is anything impossible before Thy power. Thou art the Manifest One Who will never be manifested, and the Supreme One Who hath never been surpassed, and the Ever-Living Who dieth not, and the Self-Subsisting Who cannot be hindered, and the All-Encompassing from Whose grasp nothing can escape. And there is nothing in the heavens or on earth or whatsoever is between them but glorifieth Thee with Thy praise, and prostrateth itself before Thee through Thy sovereignty, and submitteth to Thy will through Thy proof. Thy signs have filled the kingdoms of Thy earth and heaven, and through them it hath become manifest that there is no God but Thee, and Thy proof hath been perfected unto all who dwell in the kingdom of creation and command.

Wherefore, O my God, send down every good thing encompassed by Thy knowledge upon Thy servant who standeth by Thy Cause, who awaiteth Thy promise, who expecteth Thy decree, who anticipateth Thy hosts, and who subdueth all things to Thy sovereignty, in such wise as none knoweth save Thee. Protect him, O my God, from before him and from behind him, from his right and his left, from above his head and beneath his feet, and from every quarter that pertaineth unto him, even as Thou hast protected the word of Thy unity and whatsoever Thou hast created from that Word, from the prophethood of Thy Beloved and the guardianship of Thy chosen ones and the love of Thy pure ones, for verily Thou, O my God, hast power over all things and dominion in Thy sovereignty over all things.

Thou hast never been known by the names of Thy kingdom, nor described by what Thou hast created from the manifestations of the kingdom of Thy sovereignty. Thou art He Who cannot be known through aught else but Thyself, and Thou art He Who cannot be described through aught else but Thyself.

Wherefore, O my God, send down all Thy glory and majesty and beauty and grandeur and light and mercy and perfection and words and names and might and will and purpose and decree and judgment and manifestation and permission and term and book and knowledge and power and utterance and questions and honor and sovereignty and dominion and exaltation and grace and signs and revelations and bounties and effulgences and favors and evidences and bestowals and stations and gifts and whatsoever Thou, O my God, lovest to be remembered by, upon Thy servant and the son of Thy servants, who remindeth of Thy Prophet in the manifestation of Thy Cause and Thy signs. Make his body, O my God, a dawning-place for the sun of Thy unity.

Glory be unto Thee! There is no God but Thee, before all things and after all things and above all things and beneath all things and to the right of all things and to the left of all things and from every direction of all things and encompassing all things and in relation to all things and that whereunto relation returneth, and by his soul for Thy Prophet, and his spirit for Thy chosen ones, and his self and heart for the gates of Thy guidance in the beginning and the end.

O God! Ordain for him from every good that which Thou hast specially reserved for Thyself, for none other than Thee hath power over this. O God! Let his eyes be gladdened that his knowledge encompasseth not aught that he abhorreth. And O God! Send down upon them that love him that which befitteth the glory of Thy holy might and the splendor of Thine eternal majesty.

For Thou, O my God, knowest his station and his resting-place, and that he was, at that moment, manifest through Thy manifestation, ascendant through Thine ascendancy, standing firm over all things through Thy Self-Subsistence, powerful over all things through the dominion of Thy power, and exalted above all things through the glory of Thy sovereign majesty. For Thou, O my God, hast ever sent down upon him in the most elevated chambers of Thy paradise and the most resplendent sanctuaries of Thy holy exaltation that which will raise him to the court of Thy glorious might and the wellspring of Thine eternal joy, until the day when Thou givest leave for the establishment of Thy Cause and the exaltation of Thy Word, and manifestest through him all things by virtue of what Thou hast placed with him of Thy most great signs, Thy most exalted manifestations, Thy most beautiful names, Thy most sublime examples, and Thy ultimate revelations.

For from him originateth all that hath been originated in the kingdom on high down to the first atom, and unto him shall all return in the last and the first. Glorified art Thou, O God! Thou art He Who splitteth the grain and the date-stone, and ordaineth all things through the manifestations of Thy Will in the kingdom of the heavens and of the earth and whatsoever is between them, until the Cause returneth unto Thee in the most exalted horizon.

Glorified art Thou therefore, O God, my God! Ordain for him from Thy presence that which is pleasing and above that which is pleasing, and for the first pillar of his household from among them the manifestation of Thy glorification, then Thy praise, then Thy unity, then Thy magnification. For there is no one manifest but Thee, no one hidden but Thee, no first one save Thee, no last one except Thee, and no Lord but Thee.

Glory be to God, and praise be to God, and there is no God but God, and God is Most Great, and there is no power nor strength except through God, the Most High, the Most Great. Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that which they describe. And peace be upon the Messengers. And praise be to God, the Lord of all the worlds.
