BB00170: Tablet to Siyyid Muhammad
God testifieth that there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved.
He is the Most Great
In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy
God testifieth that there is none other God but Him. His is the creation and the command. He giveth life and causeth death, then causeth death and giveth life. Verily He is the Ever-Living Who dieth not. Within His grasp is the kingdom of all things. He createth whatsoever He willeth through His command. He, verily, hath power over all things. Say: He is the Truth, there is none other God but Him. He giveth life and causeth death, then causeth death and giveth life, and unto God shall all be raised up. Such is God, your Lord. His is the creation and the command. There is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved. He is the One Who createth what He willeth through His command “Be,” and it is. He is the One Who giveth life and causeth death, and unto God shall all return. Unto Him have submitted whosoever is in the heavens and whosoever is on the earth, and unto God shall all return. His are all that dwell in the night and in the day, and unto Him shall all be turned. Before Him shall be brought whosoever is in the heavens and whosoever is on the earth and all that lieth between them, and unto God shall all on that day be gathered.
Say: He is the One Who standeth over every soul, knowing what it hath earned and witnessing what it earneth. He, verily, is the Truth, the Knower of things unseen. Say: God is truth, and all else besides God is creation, and all are His worshippers. Say: God is Lord, and all else besides God is servant, and all bow down before Him. Naught escapeth His knowledge, whether in the heavens or on the earth or all that lieth between them. He, verily, hath knowledge of all things. Naught can withstand His might, whether in the heavens or on the earth or all that lieth between them. He, verily, is powerful and mighty. Say: He is the Subduer over you from before you, and the Manifest above you from behind you, and the All-Encompassing over you from above your heads, and the Irresistible over you from your right hand, and the Exalted above you from your left, that He may protect you from every direction as He pleaseth by His command. He, verily, is the Peerless, the Irresistible, the All-Encompassing, the Self-Subsisting. Naught can frustrate Him, whether in the heavens or on the earth or all that lieth between them. He, verily, hath power over all things.
Know that the word “Joseph” corresponds in number to the Qayyumu’l-Asma [Joseph=qayyum=156] and refers to the Qa’im of the House of Muhammad, peace be upon Him. Inasmuch as I observed that every morning you would recite “I believe in the Mystery of the Family of Muhammad,” etc., I desired that the veil be lifted, that deeds might conform to mere verbal profession.
From the time of the revelation of the Qur’an until the number nineteen was to be manifested—which number must needs appear—were the outward members of Muhammad’s Family, each number revolving around one letter of “In the Name of God, the Compassionate,” and four of them increased according to the form of the four collective words which passed in the time of the pure Shi’ih, namely Haji Siyyid Kazim, upon him be the blessings of God and His peace. For this reason did the letters of “Bismillahi’r-Rahmani’r-Rahim,” wherein lieth the entirety of the Qur’an, gather around him. And nineteen days before the first Mystery, he ascended to the Supreme Concourse.
The beginning of the year 1260 marked the first appearance of the Mystery, and for this reason was revealed the phrase “There is no power nor strength except through God, the Exalted, the Great” after the number of the negation and affirmation. The year 1260 concludeth, and every six is the manifestation of the Mystery of Muhammad and His Family, upon them be the blessings of God and all His glory. And since the manifestation of the Mystery is the manifestation of God, not their manifestation through prophethood and guardianship, but rather through the manifestation of divinity, it was from this manifestation that appeared the declaration “Verily I am God, there is no God but Me.”
And at the time of manifestation, the first to pledge allegiance to Him was Muhammad, as the text of the tradition attesteth, then the Commander of the Faithful, then the Imams, peace be upon them. And this is the mystery of the verse “When Joseph said unto his father: ʿI saw eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them bowing down unto me.”’ Know thou that the number of Yusuf is the number of the Qayyumu’l-Asma’; by the intended meaning of “Qa’im” is the Qa’im of the House of Muhammad—upon Him be peace—whereby ye have, verily, been numbered among the near ones of the Prophets of God.
In the name of Him Who is the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting
Inasmuch as He, at the inception of His manifestation, interpreted Himself through His own light and prefaced each surah with two verses from the Qur’an—thereby indicating that He is the Point of the Qur’an in the letter B’ of the Bismillah, concerning which it is stated in the tradition that all things stand through Him—and established forty unique verses as an allusion to the numerical value of Li’ in the verse “I saw them prostrating themselves before me,” the Surah of the Kindred was revealed, showing that Our grace had existed aforetime.
But since Our manifestation was the manifestation of the Fire of God in the Day of Resurrection—namely the pillar of “There is no God but God” which is the station of the Bismi, and “Muhammad is the Messenger of God” which is the pillar of Air, and Ali and the Imams who are the Proofs constitute Water, which pertaineth to the Name the Most Merciful, and the pillar of Earth pertaineth to the Name the All-Merciful, through which all things are created—every drop proclaimeth “There is no God but God,” and “through the second pillar sustenance is given, through the third they die, and through the fourth they are brought to life.”
Those who continually recite “I am content with God as my Lord,” had they been sincere, would have entered into the Fire of God at the time of resurrection, for it is stated in the Qur’an “In what utterance after God and His signs will they believe?” All acknowledged that none but God could reveal verses, for if this were within the power of man, during the 1270 years from the revelation of the Qur’an until the year 1260, someone would have produced verses. The very fact that one hath brought verses is proof that they are not from other than God but from Him alone. His existence is proof of His reality, and His verses are His evidence. This is the meaning of “I have known Thee through Thee” in the prayer, and “Know God through God” in the tradition, and the meaning of “O God! Make me know Thyself.”
I made Myself known to the people, yet they perceived it not and recognized not its worth. The first to return to this world was the Messenger of God—He is the first Messenger of the Qa’im—followed by the Commander of the Faithful, who undertook the mission to Bushihr and came unto you, yet ye knew Him not. Consider the first day, when for seven years none but He believed in the Messenger of God, yet today how many claim to believe! The meaning of the tradition “Islam shall return to being a stranger as it began, so blessed are the strangers” must needs be fulfilled. Likewise did the other members of the Holy Family return, and God fulfilled His promise: “And We desired to show favor unto those who were brought low.” And again did the Qa’im, Who is the Tongue of God, make them Imams.
In brief, the Lesser Resurrection occurred, and the Day equivalent to five thousand years was made manifest, and all things were gathered and dispersed, until God’s word was fulfilled: “All things perish save His Face,” and all received their recompense. Yet I shall cause the kindred to enter through grace, for it is sanctified, though it be nineteen, although it hath been […] and more true and a miracle, but were We to judge with perfect justice, none would be found worthy except […] We forgive others, who are but a handful of dust, through grace. There is in them a path to the sign of Divine Unity. I swear by God, Who holds my soul in His grasp, that I see no one who believes with true insight as they should.
Though pilgrimage is incumbent upon mankind and they perform the circumambulation, this being attributed to God, and though we have the word of Him through Whom pilgrimage and all religion is established for us—the Prophet [peace be upon him]—and the authority of the Guardian is confirmed through His word, We have rendered as scattered dust their 4,000 mithqals of gold and all their deeds. This is the meaning of the verse that even if they were to sacrifice all that is on earth, they would find no deliverance from that which is subsidiary and what exists in the Day of Resurrection.
What benefit is there in knowledge without fruit? This is the meaning of “unto God belong all things.” He appears in the garment of servitude, and by the proof through which their religion is established, they witnessed their own souls upon their deeds.
The distinction between fire [nar, 251] and light [nur, 256] is the number of the Bab [5]. Whosoever enters through the Gate is in light, otherwise in fire. Today, know the people of Paradise and Fire by this means.
Convey my greetings to grandmother and mother, and transform God’s fire into cool peace for them.
