BB00243: Letter to Jinab-i-Dhabih Dhakiru’llah
In the Name of God, the Most Great, the Most Great!
Glorified be He before Whom prostrate themselves all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth and whatsoever lieth between them. Say: All are submissive unto Him. And praise be to God before Whom bow down in worship all who are in the heavens and the earth and whatsoever lieth between them. Say: All are prostrate before Him.
God testifieth that there is none other God but Him. His is the Kingdom and the Dominion, then the Glory and the Might, then the Power and the Divine Realm, then the Strength and the Sovereignty, then the Earthly Domain. He maketh alive and causeth to die, then causeth to die and maketh alive, and verily He is the Ever-Living Who dieth not, and the King Who passeth not away, and the Just One Who wrongeth not, and the Sovereign Who changeth not, and the Single One from Whose grasp nothing escapeth, whether in the heavens or on the earth or between them. He createth what He willeth by His command. He, verily, hath power over all things.
Blessed be He unto Whom belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and on the earth and whatsoever lieth between them. There is none other God but He, the All-Subduing, the Self-Subsisting. Exalted be He unto Whom belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and on the earth and whatsoever lieth between them. There is none other God but He, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved.
Indeed it was sent down before in the Qur’an: “And We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice.” This was revealed when Abraham desired to fulfill what he had witnessed in his vision from his Lord, that there is none other God but He, the All-Subduing, the Self-Subsisting. When he desired to fulfill his Lord’s command regarding his son, God sent down from His presence a ransom for him, as a grace from His presence. He, verily, is the best of those who show grace.
Remember what God, thy Lord, hath mentioned before in the Qur’an, for We were indeed mindful. It was presented before God, thy Lord, aforetime, and We were indeed knowing. Then We raised thee up again, as a grace from Our presence, for We were indeed gracious. Grieve not over the affairs of that creation, for what profiteth thee with God is that He hath caused thee to know Himself, that there is none other God but I, the Most High, the Most Great. Apart from this, everything of high or low station shall pass away from every soul, and all the worlds shall not profit from what God thy Lord hath given thee and guided thee thereunto. He, verily, is the Most Guiding of guides.
For every throne aforetime there were thrones like unto what thou didst witness that day in the Qur’an, if thou art of them that perceive. Behold how many beings were named Muhammad, all indicating that He was a Messenger from God, the Lord of the worlds. And verily the name El in the heavenly Books of old, of those who were given the Torah, was that Name by which they called upon God, thy Lord. Therefore shall thy name be changed to ʿAbdu’llah, for the Name of God in the Qur’an is greater than the names that were revealed before—all indicating that there is none other God but I, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved.
And as for what thou didst desire that God should guide whom thou lovest unto Him—God, thy Lord, is the Best of guides. He desired through His Primal Will to guide all things, but some love God and therefore love, while others love not. And when some remained veiled, God caused His Secondary Will to flow after His proof had been completed and perfected against those who were veiled from the Primal Will. Therefore deliver thou the Book which We have detailed unto him who will not grieve to convey it, for thereby doth God guide all who are guided.
And as for what the woman asked of God, her Lord, that He might inspire in her that which would bring peace to her heart—and God is the Best of those who make firm—say: Let her act as thou hast been of those who know, if it weigheth not heavy upon thy heart and […] when seeking greatness, remember God, your Lord, that He may accept from you what shall emerge as a wondrous command from the presence of the Exalted True One. Yet do not depart from any command, and when you enter into a cause, this is the path whereby the hearts of all the world’s peoples will find tranquility. This is evidence that its nature has been purified in the religion of God, whereby it perceives through its essence what has transformed the spheres of heaven’s command and creation, and this is an invincible glory.
And if anyone possesses God’s nature at the time of each Manifestation and recognizes God’s Manifestation through what they observe within themselves of the paths that were ordained beforehand without sublime satisfaction, and if anyone’s nature is as God created it, they will surely learn God’s commands and then His prohibitions just as they are revealed from God’s Messengers. But this is not to be found in all the worlds except for whom God wishes in certain aspects of command and prohibition. And all that is given to anyone of the thrones of truth is according to what is ordained from their presence.
And concerning what you asked, God has desired to make all light until no darkness remains. This is what God has desired from a beginning that has no beginning, but some of creation do not desire it. Therefore bear witness that the Tree of Affirmation is the Tree of Light in God’s Book, in whose shade those given faith find shelter.
As for negation, it is of darkness. God has desired that negation enter into affirmation, but those who negate do not themselves enter into paradise. Consider when you say there is no sun but the sun of heaven—is there any sun you would annihilate? Such is negation before affirmation, nay, even less than this, but most people do not know. Like what God desired in the days of Solomon when He manifested him upon the earth and all thereon, making all light, and if there remained darkness in any soul it was hidden therein and could not manifest itself. God loves the like of this in every Manifestation, but most people do not love it. Therefore draw not near to what grieves you, but trust in the Living God Who dies not, and find sufficiency in God Who created you, sustained you, caused you to die and gave you life, and made you independent of all the worlds.
