BB00333: Proclamation to the people of Mecca

In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

This is a Book which has been sent down by the permission of your Lord from Ali, the All-Wise, and it is upon the Path of God in the heavens and earth. He sends down verses in a clear Arabic tongue. Convey what has been cast unto you from the Book of your Lord—verily there is no god but He. He guides whom He wishes by His command, and God your Lord is witness over all things.

This is from the tidings of the unseen which We reveal unto you that you may be upon guidance from your Lord and be among the thankful ones. And when the name of your Lord is mentioned, a wondrous tablet descends unto you. This is the Book of your Lord—recite it to the believers. Deliver the Book of your Lord to the idolaters that perchance the people may believe in the signs of God.

This is God’s decree for the people of Mecca and those around it—that they associate not anyone in the worship of their Lord and that they be among the rightly guided in the religion of God.

Say: O people of Mecca! Fear God and know that the proof of your Lord has descended unto His servant as tablets from a preserved Book, that perchance people may believe in God and His signs and be upon a straight path. Say: Whoever believes in God and His signs is indeed guided, and whoever goes astray only strays against his own soul. And God is well-aware of what you do. And whoever disbelieves in the signs of this Book, none of his deeds shall be accepted by God and he is indeed in manifest error. He shall find for himself neither protector nor helper.

Say: O people of Mecca! Believe in God and His signs and follow the decree of the Book if it is Him you worship. He is the One besides whom there is no god. He has created all things by His command and unto Him shall all be gathered. Say: If mankind were to gather together to produce the like of this Book, they would not be able to do so, even if they were to assist one another, and God suffices as witness and helper. Say to those who disbelieve in God’s signs: Bring your proof if you are truthful in God’s religion. And if you are unable—and you shall never be able—then believe in your Lord’s proof and His signs and do good upon this path that you may know. Fear God lest Satan make you forget your Lord’s decree, for God’s term shall come to pass and God is witness over all things.

Say: O people of Mecca! This is God’s decree in His Book, so follow it if it is Him you worship. Your Lord has sent down signs for a people who reason. We have not found most people believing in the signs except that We found them mocking God’s signs. These are the companions of the Fire in your Lord’s Book and God bears witness to the wrongdoers only of [unclear] triumph. And We have placed between you and those who believe not in the Hereafter a hidden veil. This is God’s decree in your Book. Say: Whoever wishes may take a path to God, but you will not unless God wills, and God has power over all things.

Your Lord has detailed the verses for a people who hear. God knows the unseen of the heavens and earth and that wherein you differ. He will judge between all with justice and God wrongs not a soul even by an atom’s weight. God suffices as a beloved for the believers.

They ask you who He is. Say: By my Lord, He is indeed the Truth among you, who guides you to a path mighty and praiseworthy. Thus have We detailed the verses in a preserved tablet. None takes heed of God’s signs except whom your Lord wills—there is no god but He, having power over what He wills.

Thus have We sent down verses for those of understanding among you that you may be upon guidance and a clear Book. And remember the name of your Lord—a Book has been sent down in the city upon its people that they may know He has power over all things. The proof of your Lord—this Book—suffices, and God suffices as helper for the believers. [Exalted is] your Lord and the Lord of the Throne above what they describe. And peace be upon the Messengers. And praise be to God, Lord of the worlds.
