BB00284: Letter to Mulla Husayn IV—from Bushihr

In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

Glorified be He Who hath sent down the Spirit through wisdom unto thee, that thou mayest be of them that warn. Read thou the Book of the remembrance of thy Lord’s name, and be of the thankful ones. Remember God, thy Lord, then prostrate thyself before Him, for verily there is none other God but He, the Mighty, the Powerful. God, thy Lord, knoweth what thou hast witnessed in the paths of His Cause, and verily there is none other God but He. He hath ordained mercy for thee in the sacred month, and this is indeed the supreme triumph.

Follow thou the decree We have now sent down unto thee from the presence of a manifest Leader. Verily He is the Truth in the heavens and on earth, Who reciteth the Book of thy Lord from the yellow leaf. There is none other God but He—say: Fear ye Him. And verily He is the Mystery in the Words of Sinai from the Book of thy Lord—there is none other God but I—say: Be ye God-fearing.

And every name of every created thing hath been sent down in the Book of thy Lord—there is none other God but He—say: Worship ye Him. And today We read in the Book with thy Lord the decree concerning the oppressed, and verily there is none other God but He, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. The decree of God hath reached the East of the earth and its West, and God is the All-Knowing Witness.

They who follow the verses of God in truth, these are they who are guided. And they who follow their vain desires after having recognized the Cause of God, these are they who are the wrongdoers. When the remembrance of thy Lord’s name came, then seek forgiveness for thy sin, for these are they who in the decree of the Book are accounted among the assured ones.

It is written that whoso heareth the decree of this Cause, none of his deeds shall be accepted except he believe in the verses of his Lord and be of them that are assured. And the religion on that Day is the decree of the Remnant of God, His servant, in a perspicuous Book. And the people have come unto the Remnant of God, in confirmation of that which the Messengers brought from God, that ye worship none but Him, and this indeed is the manifest truth.

They have disbelieved who say that the Word of God taketh verses that are sent down in the Book from the Qur’an—say: Glory be to Him and exalted is He above what they associate! And were We to will, We would surely send down in every letter the like of the Qur’an, and thy Lord God is indeed the Mighty, the Powerful.

O concourse! Marvel not at the Cause of God, but enter the Gate in truth that perchance ye may obtain mercy. And who doeth greater wrong than he who inventeth falsehood against the remembrance of thy Lord’s name? Such are they who comprehend not. We shall seal their hearts with justice as recompense for their deeds.

And verily one verse from the verses of this Book equalleth in decree the verses of the Prophets. And after all creation there shall be none to question the proofs of God. And were men to gather together concerning this Cause, and the jinn to aid them in their weakness, they would never be able to produce the like of this Book, even if they were helpers one of another.

Say: O people of the Furqan! Fear ye God, your Lord, the All-Merciful, beside Whom there is none other God. Is there any difference in decree between him who cometh from your Lord with numbered verses or him who cometh with a single verse? Nay, by the Qur’an! We make no distinction in God’s decree, and God is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

And were God to send down the Qur’an as a single verse, would there be any distinction in decree after God had sent down numbered verses? Say: Glory be to Him and exalted is He beyond what they associate with Him! And when a Book descends, mention the name of thy Lord, besides Whom there is no other God, and go forth for the pilgrimage to the House according to thy Lord’s command, and that soon.

And say to the believers who followed thee in the days of the Remembrance to enter, yea to enter, the City of Security according to the command of the Book, that ye may be among the triumphant ones. And convey this Book’s command unto those who followed God’s Cause in truth, for these are they who are guided.

We have indeed sent down unto thee in the City a Book containing clear verses from Our presence for a people who understand. And verily in the days of the Path, We sent down from Our presence decisive verses unto him who was in the Mother City and those around it, from thy Lord’s command unto the command of a wondrous Remembrance.

Return thou unto the command of a wondrous Remembrance, return thou, for the command hath reached the east of the earth and its west, and God’s proof is conclusive against all creation. It is not permitted for anyone to interpret the verses of the Book by his own knowledge. Say: Ask ye of Me whatsoever ye desire and that which ye know not.

This Book sufficeth as proof on the Day of Resurrection for those who desire to believe in the verses of thy Lord and who are among those who bow down in adoration. And convey the peace of thy Lord’s Remembrance unto those who followed Me in the days of the Unseen, for these are they who are the foremost, the near ones.

Glory be to God, thy Lord, the Lord of the Throne, above what they describe! And peace be upon thee, O thou Message amongst the Messengers! And praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds!
