BB00205: Khutba writen near the staging post of al-Safra 1

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful!

All praise be to God Who hath known His Own Self through His Own Self, and none knoweth Him as He is except Him. There is no God but Him. He created the Primal Will before all things from nothing through itself, and fashioned it according to the form of its acceptance without any precedent, and ordained for it the law of correspondence in the form of its unity without any condition save its own essence. And He distinguished within its unified whole through the decree of the pair, which is its servitude, and brought forth through it the decree of the sister of the Primal Will without any creation besides it, and established it in the station of its authority in every aspect of its essential nature.

He ordained for it the yellow thread, reflecting the yellow line without any likeness to equal it, and deposited within the essence of its lordship all that He created in the station of its form without any parallel to match it. He brought forth the ocean of destiny from a predetermined command upon the line of equilibrium between the two matters, for the decree of the Primal Will is not from any who willed from its sister. He ordained for it the triangular form without the attribute of separation from its brotherhood, and established the decree of all existing things within it through the nearness of its manifestation to all things without injustice or decree to equal it.

He fixed in its depths, upon the zone of its throne, the temple of the sun of the Primal Will for the mystery of its existence, and brought forth the sea of divine decree around divine origination upon the word of execution without any limitation besides itself. He ordained for it, through what was joined in the mystery of its own self from the temple of the Divine Will, the decree of destiny without any letter to approach it. He brought forth the Tree of Sinai in the Mount for the execution of its self as the word of divine decree without any description to accompany it.

And He entrusted to her good-pleasure, in the ratification of the ordinance of her station, the Word of the Will and its twin, without likeness in the Essence and without peer in the Attributes—without any command that could equal it. Thus did God originate the pillars of origination without a joining that would compare them with the Essence, nor a separation from the Act that would sever them, nor an essence of description that could set itself alongside them. Glorified and exalted is He; there is no god but Him.

After the Word of the Decree (qadaʾ), He perfected the signs of triadic manifestation for the oneness of the Will, by the command of God—so that the permission and the fixed time might reach their Book. And they are the station of the Act within the sevenfold—seven upon seven—whenever their Lord willeth them. There is no god but Him, the Lord, the God of the worlds—so that the affirmers of unity may attain, through the knowledge of the making, a share of union, increased beyond what it already possesses.

And let the knowers know the Word of Severance when facing the Countenance, through encountering its stations; and let the learned recognize the Word of badaʾ from the ordinance of consummation (imdaʾ) in the verses of its manifestations. And let the truthful behold the Throne of Grandeur above the dust at the remembrance of its places of falling, until all have heard the call of the Tree upon Sinai—when its appointed term turned toward one of its manifestations—so that mankind might enter the gates of the Sanctuary through the effacement of illusion and the sobriety of the known, without a distant indication and without a ruling that draws near unto it.

Thus hath God set forth the Word of Origination on this Day—Friday of the White Month, the Month of God—in which He brought forth His servant from the Sacred City and caused him to abide upon the carpet beneath those shadows, that all might be made certain, from the Word of the Will, of the true entry into the Sanctuary of Muhammad, the Messenger of God and the Seal of the Prophets; and that the Beloved of God might again be extolled in the manifestation of his Creator—there is no god but Him.

So whoso describeth Him by a name hath associated something with Him; and whoso associateth something with Him hath affirmed another beside Him; and whoso affirmeth another beside Him hath removed Him from the station God hath willed for His own Self. And whoso entereth the gate of His Sanctuary by pointing to other than Him is veiled from beholding His meeting. And whoso, in what lieth before him, mentions aught besides Him hath borne the mention of other than Him. And whoso standeth before His Countenance while observing separation is cast out by the very ordinance. And whoso acknowledgeth before Him any description other than that wherewith God hath described His own Self hath forged a lie against God, by the judgment of His Book. And whoso visiteth Him while beholding separation hath veiled himself from the Face of his Lord. And whoso presenteth his own essence before His Presence as a description derived from Him hath committed association with his Lord.

But whoso saluteth from the side of the Gate, by the tongue of God, without beholding establishment upon the Throne, and without positing separation from union, and without grasping the essence of identity apart from connection—such a one hath visited God his Lord in the First Cloud. And whoso visiteth God through God’s witnessing of His own Self unto Himself hath entered the Gate of Grandeur, and hath been a visitor of the Lord of Might upon the dust—without knowing even a trace of likeness, nor a letter of similitude, nor a name of delineation, nor a description of division. For God hath ever been, and there was nothing with Him; and description belonged only to that which doth not indicate itself by itself, and attribution is valid only for that which doth not know itself by itself.

Glorified be God, the Lord of creation! Through the witnessing of the heart and the describing of the servants, no description knoweth aught save its own identity, and no name pointeth save from the station of its own “I-ness.” Nothing hath known God, for He is as He ever was—there was nothing with Him; and now God is as He was, and there is no mention of anything with Him. Glory be to Him: none knoweth how He is save He Himself.

The Oneness of the Essence of the Will hath manifested itself in its own domain, and Divinity hath narrated the station of walayah in its degrees. Whoso saith “He is He” hath associated something with Him and made Him an artifact; and whoso saith “none knoweth how He is save He” hath conjoined creation with his Lord—for the haʾ upon the Throne of hearts pointeth only to the station of origination, and the waw upon the seat of the Book narrateth only the station of invention.

Glorified and exalted is He! Sovereignty endureth in the act of making; the kaf terminateth in the Word of remoteness; cycles turn in the land of severance; despair of the path to knowledge of the signs is forbidden; the seeking of meeting with God in every condition is repelled. Existence is but their manifestations upon the heart, and the proof is their places of falling upon the tablets of bringing-into-being. And none knoweth the making of God save He Himself.

Thus hath God detailed the ordinances of attaining unto His signs, that all may be assured in the presence of union, at the stations of the Throne in the sanctuary of the Family of God—the peace of God be upon them—and the word of severance and despair. They associate not partners with God in the knowledge of God’s creation, nor do they doubt any manifestation of God’s power. They enter the sanctuary of the Seven, sanctifying the Seven in the oft-repeated verses and the mighty Qur’an.

Glorified be He Who hath sent down from the darkening cloud of His Gate, on the Day of Friday near noon, the ordinances of creation and the signs of origination for the people of Paradise and those who dwell in the depths of Paradise, that the people of the Gardens may visit, through the knowledge of the signs of the All-Merciful, the people of the Bayan, glorifying their Creator, that there is no God but He, and that they may enter the mosque, prostrating themselves before God as they entered it the first time, and that they may destroy utterly all that they have exalted. Glory be to God, the Lord of the Throne, above what they describe. Peace be upon the Messengers, and praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.
